Hello Märklineers,

Some snaps from my mobile phone (my camera doesn't do the best phone calls either) at a model train exhibition I visited in Sydney last weekend.
About one third of the exhibits were Märklin.

Hi PJ,
Yes I made the 3 hour drive from Canberra to be there. Sorry to have missed you.
There was one beautiful H0 Märklin layout that I've seen before which was running well. Also a large Z gauge layout. I was hoping for a few more Märklin layouts but it is not easy to find in Australia.
One disappointment for me was that someone got into the 2nd hand section just before me and was buying everything that had a Märklin label. So he bagged dozens of carriages and what looked to be over 50 loks. I managed to find a few goods wagons which were buried under other brands but didn't have time to relax and contemplate what I would like to get. But I guess people are entitled to buy as much as they want!
John

That's twice as long as it took me to fly up from Hobart!

That would be the Erbschaft (HO) and Gemünden (Z) exhibits - they were good.
I also was hoping for more Märklin, particularly given the number of Märklin enthusiasts we seem to have in Australia.

Yes, I felt the second-hand Märklin section was rather depleted and you have now explained why!

I dropped in as well, although late in the day due to the social secretary mixing up appointments.

Very interested in the Erbschaft (HO) and Gemünden (Z) layouts but the social secretary gave me the hurry up

For me the 2nd hand Marklin rolling stock section was like the Simpson desert Blink but you have filled me in on the why. There was a fair bit of track left but little else. Oh well there's always next time!!

It would appear the Thornleigh Model Train Expo is on again this year on 11th & 12th August 2018 at the Thornleigh Community Hall. It’s being put on by Marklin Modellers Sydney. I missed last year but intend going this time.

The Thornleigh exhibition is on again this year at the same venue.

The will be 10 layouts on display which is enough to fill our hall.

As usual there will be a large bring and buy stall to satisfy your buying needs

Five days to go before the 2018 show at Thornleigh Community Centre so I thought I'd share some taster photos of the HO club layout we're exhibiting this year... the team have been putting in long hours landscaping and testing and I can tell you all it will be worth coming along to see the full layout. Lots happening on it and multiple trains running including some special narrow gauge shuttles for the sawmill and quarry!
