I am new to this forum, but have been involved with Marklin HO trains since I was a child in Germany in the 50's. I am now 75 years old and recently unpacked the Merklin train gear that has come into my possession since being in storage for the past 50 years. I am in the process of inventorying everything so I can possibly try to sell some of the items on Ebay.

At some point we acquired some older track and switches that I am unable to find in my Merklin catalogues to determine the vintage and model #'s. I have attached a picture and hope someone will be able to provide some information and if this type of older stuff has any value.

Thanks, Bob.

From the following picture, your track pieces would date from around 1936-1940.

This picture is taken from the book "Märklin 50 Jahre HO 1935-1985".

Here's the details of the track pieces from the 1938 Märklin catalog (the only one of that period I have in English)

Hi Bob, to answer your last question, yes there is value in those older tracks.

There are many enthusiasts of that era and the track has wide appeal, especially when in good clean original condition as it appears to be.

You'll find a ready market both on this forum and on eBay.

I have a small quantity myself and I love it. ThumpUp

Hi Bob,

The very left rail is a ~ 1942 example, the right straight rail is from 1945 and the two switches from 1946/47. At least the 1945 version of the straight track come not up very often. But do not estimate more than a few dollars. Not everything what is collectable is also expensive.

Regards

Markus
