Hi all,

I have the 30501 Double set and wish to upgrade the single protocol mfx decoders to DCC decoder (ie LokPilot V4).
I see that the LoPilot is availible in 21 pin format, can I just plug this into the exisiting Marklin loco 21 pin board or do I need to wire up and install an ESU adaptor board?
If not, can a Marklin mLD3 21 pin decoder be just plugged in?

Cheers,
Best Regards,
Don

Hi Don,

As I understand it, any loco with the 21 pin adapter can have either decoder plugged in and will run.

Cheers....

Mike

Märklin has a clear system.

There is a NEM standard for 21MTC. And there is an incompatible NMRA standard for 21MTC.
Some decoders in Märklin locos comply with the former, some with the latter standard.
Some locos do not use AUX3/4 and any decoder can be installed.
Some locos use AUX3 or AUX4 and you have to use either an NEM decoder or an NMRA decoder. Märklin's /3 generation has a CV that allows switching between NEM and NMRA.

For the Ae 6/6 set any decoder can be used. With other Märklin locos the wrong decoder could lead to damage of the decoder or the loco board.
Regards
Tom
