At what time is going to be released? |
Ep. III (My layout is set in 1962).
I collect mainly DSB, DB and SBB but I'm quite... Open minded.

You know POET'S day mean? Or, the more polite version - "Push Off Early, Tomorrow's Saturday" Good to see that this tradition is alive and well in Germany. I first heard about POETS Day probably 40 years ago....(does this mean I'm getting old?? ) So, I guess when I wake up in about 10 hours time it will be Saturday morning here and we'll have a new items brochure to browse through while eating porridge for breakfast!

39556 was a Bavarian G 5/5 (later the BR 57.5). As far as I can tell, down to the 39550 all models were variants of this class. I'd bet it's a variant of the G5/5 again.

39912 is a Coal Fired Challenger, it would be nice if she had Denver & Colorado markings on rather than the usual UP. Dynamic coal would be a bonus!

There were a lot of railroads which purchased new Challenger types, from a total production of 252 locos: 1) Carolina, Clinchfield & Ohio, 12 ALCO locos, 6 from D&RGW 2) Delaware & Hudson, 40 ALCO locos 3) Denver & Rio Grande Western, 6 ALCO locos, 15 Baldwin locos 4) Western Pacific, 7 ALCO locos 5) Northern Pacific, 47 ALCO locos 6) Spokane, Portland & Seattle, 8 ALCO locos 7) Union Pacific, 105 ALCO locos 8) Western Maryland, 12 Baldwin locos So Märklin has a lot of choices as far a railroads go, although I could not find a listing of which of these were coal burners. I doubt that they will model the Baldwin built locos since they were different in some details, but you can never tell. It will be interesting to hear more about the 39912, although my 39911 will probably be enough for my railroad. |
Regards,
Jim
