I have recently acquired a Marklin gauge 1 Kof 2. I believe it to be a model no. 5574 (DB variant). Unfortunately the lights seem to be operating in the wrong direction. ie Front Beam headlight operates when in reverse. Before I start taking the loco to pieces has anyone any ideas? Is it possible that the chip was inserted the wrong way? I am using an ECOS system.

Hello, I believe the lights on these are connected to the decoder with pin connectors and could easily be wrongly connected, however check the decoder fitted as the original may have been changed as it is old enough to be a primeval DCC type originally. There was a plugin upgrade to Motorola format if it runs on Marklin format data or a decoder upgrade, however the wrong direction lights does suggest the original board is in place. Look at the Marklin spare parts site for an exploded diagram, the connectors at the front of the board are the lights. https://www.maerklin.de/...1&artikelnummer=5574 Graham

Many thanks for this. The pins were transposed as you correctly stated.
