Another DC-AC Conversion in Need of Advice: Rivarossi SBB Ae 3/5 Electric

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if any of you are familiar with the Rivarossi Ae 3/5 electric locomotives? I have one of these in the classic SBB green, AC digital from the factory. I have long searched for the same locomotive in brown, both without luck or when they do come up outrageous pricing. (to be honest it isn't the nicest model in the world, so spending $300 on one would be a waste of money)
Anyhow, I've now found one in brown, part number 1654, but it is DC. I'm wondering how hard it might be to convert? Looking at web images as well as my AC loco the pickup shoe is a direct screw-in so no problems there. Also I'm assuming the usual swap of wheel pickups to one contact and the pickup shoe to the other being easy.
So my concerns for anyone who might know:
1- does the model have an NEM DCC socket? (part number 1654) 2- does the lighting matter since it has the swiss headlamp changeover? looking at my instruction sheet, there are different PC boards from the factory for the model in DC, AC, and DC/AC factory digital but I cannot decipher if this will matter? I'd also assume it means the analogue DC model I'm looking at will not have an NEM socket...

I could, but then my green one would be DC only I"m sure the conversion isn't too complicated, I'm just trying to plot my course before I try it/buy the locomotive |

Any locomotive that comes in a DC and AC variant will be easy to convert, since at the factory they make them as similar as possible to reduce costs.
This usually means simply screwing in a pickup shoe and removing wheel pickups. |

The circuit board is a bit tricky though as it has the swiss headlight changeover. Might be more than I can chew unless I find a friend who can walk me through the recreation of it based on my current green model Edited by user 27 March 2018 18:03:14(UTC)
