Can anyone tell me if all marklin Ho scale locos can go over this crossing gates. I am asking this because my small DB 89 Steam locomotive will go over the crossing but will un hook from the wagons. My other locomotive will go over with not a problem but the engine is heavier then the other. Any suggestions?

I used one for several years on my old layout and it worked fine. It should be sensitive enough that small 2 axle wagons can be pushed over it without a problem. I would check and see that it's not binding in any place. It's really a balancing act so to speak between the actual arms of the gates and the movement of the rails but even your lightest car should make the gates come down. Hope this helps and good luck!

Thanks Chuck for answering my question . But the problem I am having is not the wagons it the locomotive it self . It uncoupled when it goes thru the gates. That’s what my problem is.

Hi,
It sounds like the problem is not with the crossing but with the loco's rear coupling hook. If this is bent downwards then the wagons may uncouple when running.
If I were you I would take a pair of pliers and carefully bend up the affected coupling very slightly, and then test the loco and wagons over the crossing again. If it still uncouples try and bend the coupling a bit higher.
Let me know if this fixes it.

Thank you Peter, I don’t think I can bend the coupler up . The reason I say that it is a older steam DB89 with a coupler that looks almost like a T turned sideways. I don’t know how to explain it. Thank you for your response. Olaf
