Hi all, Merry Christmas! I received this BRAWA 6560 Cable Car set for Christmas. Unfortunately it is for N scale, but I think it is close enough to Z scale that it will be fine on my Z scale layout. Has anyone used these cable car kits on their layout? I would like to see some members' photos or videos, if possible. Thanks, David

I was thinking of installing one of these on my Z layout in the future; would be very interested in how your project goes.

Hi Andy,
I will definitely post photos when I do get around to finishing my layout and incorporating this cable car set.
Thanks, David

Those things are dangerous. In every James Bond movie where they show up, there's always one or two people falling out of them. |

They have been in a few Bond movies (OHMSS (Schilthorn CH), Moonraker (Rio BR), Spectre (Soelden AT). Other than Bond, there was also "Where Eagles Dare" and there was a disaster movie about people trapped in a gondola in the 1970s. I think it was "Skyway To Death"

Figure out how to quite the motor? Mine also makes a lot of noise.

Especially if there is an impressive vertical drop of 40 meters... 😎 I also found it diffucult to implement. There should be 2 ”carrying” cables for each car. I skipped them, as this derived a better cable friction at the motor wheel. Also, I skipped the mid-tower, that was just another source for failure.... But the skiers liked the result! |

I remember when we were trying the Kanzelwand lift, we had a piano wire guide which kept the line in place and then a string that was used to pull the chairs along the line. I don't know whether other models used the same principle.

Hi Leistef,
I have been so busy lately and I haven't had a chance to set up the cable car set. It's great to see all this commentary regarding these Brawa cable cars though! By the way, PeFe, your layout looks great!

Leistef,
The layout in your avatar looks awesome as well! Are you interested in setting up a cable car on yours?

Has anyone had any experience with the slightly more rustic looking Faller 232372 'Goods and Passenger Ropeway'? (This is also for N Scale and I would am considering it for a Z Scale layout.)

Hi! I know this is a very old thread, but I wanted to find out more about the motor noise. Last year we bought a vintage Eheim HO Aerial Cable Car System model 4021 at a Train Show. By all appearances, it's identical to the Brawa 6280 system. I finally got around to installing it (which wasn't easy because it didn't come with instructions!). It's up and running on wood blocks - no landscaping yet - but the motor is ridiculously loud! I lubed it a bit but it made no difference. Has anyone had any luck with silencing it? Do I need to replace the motor with a newer model?

Surely a company like Radio Shack in USA (was in Australia as Tandy decades ago) has something.

I've bought the HO version many years ago and yes the motor is noisy, and the gondola when going over the support beam starts toswing a bit, it is very important when you assembly the cable car not to twist the wire to much and the instructions do tell you it has to be constructed similar to rainbow bow but of course not to that extend., |

Don't sound insulate the motr with anything that ,ight make it overheat, not that it runs much? Or add a sound decoder to mask the noise. I got the Jaegorndorfer ho set, and the accompanying ESU sound decoder. It's modern, but really neat!

I agree, don't cover the motor in acoustic insulation, but you may be able to fill the space allowing enough air gap and add a Noctua 40mm fan for air movement past the motor. https://noctua.at/en/nf-a4x10-flx/specification I have one of these fans which I used for cooling a small transformer. Although they are expensive, they are quiet and might solve a difficult heat situation. If you have a bit more room the Noctua 40mm fan 20mm thick https://noctua.at/en/pro...-a4x20-flx/specificationI have about 50 of their various larger fans bought to quiet down computers. Also mounting the building on a bit of rubber or something a bit flexible will help reduce noise transmission. A bit of trial and error here as you need to listen carefully at the type of sound problem to be solved.

If you are really keen on pushing Noctua fans, 40mm x 20mm for cooling!

I swapped the 3 x 80mm fans in my 3.0kVA Eaton UPS for a quiet environment in 2007, still going, most of my Noctua fans are very old. I have repurposed some of them for an after cooler (and other items) for my triple tyre compressor set-up for outback Australia (4.5cfm at 90PSI up to 90amps draw according to DC clamp meter) which if I place in the car's refrigerator, I have the best moisture removal other than a last line of defence, desiccant drying. (2 small engine oil coolers redesigned for an air compressor after cooler) But really the Noctua fans are very good, cost a lot up front but are worth every cent in the long run.

I have managed to acquire the same mechanism in a box of bits & when I realised what it was decided to restore it. I have the valley unit & the top station motorised unit but no central pylon (can still be purchased so no problem). The bit I need advice on is the reversing mechanism. The contact relay is in place but the reversing arm is loose in the box & no way to hold it in place. Can you please post close up photos of how the reversing arm is held in place. There are some holes in the reversing arm, is some kind of wire spring needed. Any help appreciated. Dick
