Hi

Could someone assist - I am looking to identify the blue / cream electrolok and carriages in the attached photo. I believe they are Märklin and have looked through a range of older catalogues and checked the internet but have not had any luck identifying them. If anyone could advise the model number/s that would be much appreciated.

PS - Sorry for the quality of the picture, the best I can get

Thanks, David

I don't think that this is a Marklin model. It is a model of the Austrian "Transalpin" multi-unit railcar, probably made by either Roco, Lima or Kleinbahn.

Roco did make an Austrian OBB "Transalpin" set exactly like that in a couple different variations. (Your picture shows the Era IV OBB logo ... it was also made by Roco with the ERA III OBB logo.) I'm not familiar with a Lima model, so I'll trust that Markus knows the difference from the limited-detail photo.

The "Transalpin" was one of my favorite trains to ride years ago thru Austria and on towards Switzerland. Was there ever an ac Märklin compatible version of this train set? Thanks. John

Hi Bill,

There are two small details which make me sure: The style of the destination-plate seen on one car and the pantographs which are typical for LIMA.

Hi john, Roco just made an updated AC version of their set only a few years back. A few dealers may still have it

I found this video on YouTube of an AC version of the Lima trainset (OBB 4010):

Here is a video of the more recent Roco model:

Here is an ebay listing for a converted to AC model: https://www.ebay.de/itm/...itat-selten/122974539779
and a Lima AC version: https://www.ebay.de/itm/...er-Zustand/253433892656?

and finally the rebuilt version in AC: https://www.ebay.de/itm/...-Alpin-Ep-5/222843855896
