As usual, one of the Italian forums seems to have the best information:

http://www.forum-duegied...pic.php?f=21&t=96032

http://www.ferrovie.info...a58c2121a1855a76dfe0879a

This forum reserves most of the information to members only, but have posted some photos and videos in the open access sections and on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/FerrovieInfo/videos?
The videos will probably be posted in the next day or two.

Ralf Wittkamp will probably post his report on Stummi and it will also appear in other forums this week too.

Regards

Mike C

ACME GRAN CONFORT!!!!!!!!!!

I've wanted this set in TEE or classic Trenitalia Grey/tan livery for ages. I'll buy both sets as they produce them. No idea why ROco has retired these molds, used Roco sets sell for a fortune

Great news!

Another dream of mine becomes reality: Vitrains is doing the "Vivalto" coaches in the Ferrovia Emilia Romagna livery, to match the loco they've had out for some time. They will look be great on my layout!

Whoa! The Faller container crane is eye popping. I wonder if we could get rid of the laundry room in our house.

Well they said they are keeping the cost under control by making the motorized automation bits a separate add on and the base is manually movable. So 350€ for next Christmas. For a 66cm x 60cm space.

I wonder if it will work better than the Heljan one?

Don't look back, your not heading that way.

It is a good point Glenn. And how long will it be in the lineup and how long will spares be available? Heljan crane owners have a real challenge fixing things now.

Un/fortunately I really do not have the space.

As far as the container terminal. I don't know how viable such a model will be as long as the various manufacturers continue to use different standards for their containers. It will not be possible to just put any container on any car or truck trailer, nor to grab each container the same way. Some have sockets, some have pins, some have tongues and so on... Unless you buy all your cars and containers from one source and they are all the same type, this is likely to be problematic.

In reality on a layout, how many different containers is the average user going to raise, lower, or move around? So as long as the containers to be moved fit the crane and the associated railcars, I don't see a big problem. However, if the container crane becomes the focus of a layout and you try to simulate the movements of a real intermodal yard, then the price of a bunch of containers will probably be miniscule compared to the price of the crane.

Having been involved in the design and engineering of a real container terminal project over the last 7 years, this model is what I have been dreaming of, but I just don't have the space.

My old classic Faller Container Terminal crane is still working well after 35 years.
The Preiserlings cannot keep up with shipments !BigGrin

If I had the space I would install the recent new one since I do like container trains.
