Hi all,

I always liked to have Schnabel-car. At least since I saw it in the 1973 Z-gauge new items. I was eight years old, that year.

But generally these cars have problem. They are long, very long. That's also the reason I didn't buy the Märklin/Trix - model.

I'm sure, Märklin never will do a car as I like it, so I designed the car of my imagination. The car hasn't a prototype. It is an impressionist model, designed to run on regular layouts.
I studied several pictures in the net and models which are around and tried to include as many typical properties as possible.

The model uses the bogies of the Märklin car 4617/4618 which are widely availble used and which are not expensive. The chassis of the 4611 crane also can be used.

For the first time I also printed the transparent parts of the windows. They are made of 0.4mm transparent PLA. I was surprised how good it looks. The windows are not really transparent, but the impression is right.

The model shown is not not right out of the printer. The parts are finished using filler, some sanding and are sprayed in the red color used by the German railways.

I shall not hide the fact that the car is not running very well. It is very light. I think it would help to build it with two cabs and insert some weight in the cab.

Hallo,

I like what you did. Reduces the overhang on the curves.

Hi Markus,

Can you maybe provide .step-models of your car as well? Or maybe provide the FreeCAD source file(s)? I would like to attempt making a 3D design of the bogies myself, so that I do not have to take apart an existing deeploader car.

Thanks.

Bert

Edit: never mind, I think I can manage using the .stl meshes.
