What happens for the club insider exclusives (insofar as excess inventory does often end up at dealers for general sale) is that for each 'insider item' there is a time frame where the club members get order the item. Märklin sends an order form to each club member at the time the order window opens, and members have some time (months) to fill out and submit that order form to their formal Märklin dealer, who then submits the order (via their dealer-status) to Märklin. Märklin them (I assume) makes enough models for the volume of orders they have in hand once the order period is closed - and a few more depending on their projections (need spares/extras) and production-needs (minimal batch sizes).
So when you join you wold be receiving the order forms for any insider models that come up to an order window AFTER you join. What model are you looking for? |

The item I wish to purchase, is the Marklin 39753 Steam Locomotive but with the material I received yesterday from Marklin, there was no order form. I assume that they should have sent one for me to complete or am I missing something? I guess I could go to the local Marklin dealer, there is one close by and show them my Marklin Member card and make an order through them perhaps. Where is the prices published for this Club Model exclusives?

That model was part of the order window for mid-year. The email that came out from the Märklin USA club to us members in the US (on June 1) indicated "The complete details and your personalized order form will be included in your #3/2017 mailing, which will be sent as soon as the magazines, brochures and DVDs arrive from the factory in mid-June." So the order form came with the 3rd of the 6 magazines for the 2017 year - ie mid year some months ago. It may be ( I don't have the form in front of my) that the order period has already closed - which I suspect, since the item is scheduled to be delivered in the next coming months (but then I'm still waiting to get delivery of the insider loco from order form #1 that was due in April). Its likely you missed the official boat. That said, you may have luck contacting some of the big online retailers or other hobby shops that may have product coming. A dealer direct inquiry would be recommended. The prices are on the order forms. I don't have mine in front of me; an official dealer could tell you what it is, or someone on the forum who ordered it may remember. Looking at one website that has a listing for it it appears in the US its retail price is $369.56 USD with MSRP $389.99 USD; for preorder. https://www.eurorailhobb...mp;sc=HO&stock=39753What prices are in your region can be different (exchange rates, taxes etc). The issue with US dealers is they often need to get a sizable shipment together before a container gets delivered to the US from Germany. Buying from an EU dealer puts more shipping cost on you but you get a more reliable/quicker delivery. |
