Hello,
I seem to have run into an issue, as whenever I hook up a piece of track in my station, it seems to omit and very odd buzzing noise and then the ms2 selects stop by itself. Additionally, it's all quite weird because as i hook up different pieces of track and unhook them, the buzzing seems to move to a different track piece, but it seems to only come from one track piece at a time. I would really appreciate some help here, as I'm at a bit of a loss.
Thanks,
Matthew

Hey Matthew

Sounds like there might be a short in one of the pieces of track, is there any visible debris or damage to any track pieces?

There isn’t any visible debris, and I ran out of time in the evening to give the tracks a good wipe down/cleaning. I can’t find any damage on the tracks themselves.
Thanks for the response,
Matthew

No worries Matthew, that was the first thing that came to mind, the sound you're describing sounds like a short, and without any car or lok on the tracks, thats the only other thing I could think of.Was it confined to one specific piece of track you were trying to connect?

Thanks,
It seemed to jump around from track piece to track piece as I connected and disconnected certain pieces of track, with no particular logic involved at least as to where the buzzing would come from then. I do have a considerable amount of track hooked up to the ms2, and I was wondering if it might be low voltage in the farther regions of the track.

M track? C track? K track?
Anyway make sure there are no radio-interference suppressors installed in any tracks (feeder tracks).

Thanks,
It’s c track and as far as I know there are no suppressors installed in any of my tracks.

Cool

Do you have your wiring connected on just one track-piece, or do you have multiple feeders ??

To me it sounds like you've part of the layout connected different / opposite to rest of the layout.

Cool

I don’t have any feeder wires hooked up yet, and I’ve double checked that my wires are hooked up to the appropriate metal tabs on the c track base. This problem of the buzzing only came into existence when I attached my station to the other pieces of track.
Thanks

Hi Matthew,

So if I understand correctly you have one set of wires powering your layout and have checked that the Red is connected to B and the Brown is connected to O. If you then take a second set of wires (from where?) and connect them to another piece of track you get the buzzing. Is my understanding correct?

Peter

Thanks, I only have one wire attached to my layout, and it’s only when I add track pieces, no additional wires involved feeders or otherwise. It just seems to make this buzzing noise once an extensive amount of track is connected, and I have double checked that my wire connections from the ms2 transformer to the track are correct.

I had an issue like this with C track buzzing. It occurred when I snipped the connector between the two running rails to create a contact track. One of the snipped ends was contacting the center rail. Once I fixed that it was fine.

If you have a continuity tester you can easily find a short. There should be no continuity between the running and center rails.

I'm guessing the conductors under the c-track at the ends of the track pieces somewhere may be making contact or something is between them. They get close to each other around the ends. Disconnect the trackbox from the track. Then use a multimeter to measure the resistance between the two outside rails (should be near 0 ohms) and the center contact and the rails - should be infinite resistance.

Thanks for all the advice, Minok, H0, Purellum, PMPeter and rbw993. I think I'll give the multimeter a shot, since I have one at home and if that doesn't work, then I'll move on to other suggestions.

divide and conquer. Connect one piece of track (to either a meter or the power). If it is good add more. When you add some bad track you know you have the culprit.
