Hi.

I'm interested in this locomotive, but I would actually like to be able to run it on my layout. The outer loop on my layout has R2 curves but they are connected to the outer curve of the curved turnouts.
I see that the inner curve radius is specified at R1, but the outer curve is not speciified? In the literature.
Will this create a tight spot for these large loco's that require R2 min radii?
I will only be running the loco on the outer loop.

Hi db60

The advice of my dealer Mike of Westend trains:

''The trip was excellent. I saw the new Marklin model 39241 on display at the Marklin booth and the actual locomotive at Goppingen station, very impressive! You should buy this one but be aware it will only run on R2 or greater. ''

I just found another post which explains that the 24671/2 is R1/R1 plus 24077.
I guess unless I remove these 24671/2, I am outta luck.

I have the same problem, but luckily only on one spot on my layout.
Luckily I am able to rework the layout at that spot using the new wide radiu (R3) curved switch with a 24315 curve.
It took some fiddling with wintrack (Layout design CAD SW) but took me all of 10 minutes.
If you can provide me with a drawing of the spot where you have the problem, and all the tracks within say 1 m/ 3ft around that switch, I'll try to find a suitable solution for you.
Cheers
Jacques

Hi Jacques,

Thanks for the suggestions and kind offer to help.
I have however decided to remove these curved turnouts and change to R3 curves on this oval, with the standard straight track turnouts along the straight sections.
I am also upgrading the inner oval to R2 from R1.
This will have many benefits.

Cheers!

Don
