Hi!

BEMO announced earlier today the availability of RhB Ge 4/4 III 651 "Glacier on Tour" loco in HO scale, for both AC and DC, to complement the Glacier Express cars that they introduced in HO scale more than 2 years back. They have also announced RhB Ge 4/4 III 644 "Rhaetian Railway" loco to pull the Bernina Express cars.

This is an exciting announcement because for years the HO scale model train enthusiasts have wanted to run these beautiful trains on their layout but the investment in a separate scale HOm was a major deterrent.

You can download the product brochure from the following link:

http://www.bemo-modellba...EMO_H0_Flyer_GEX_web.pdf

BEMO expects to start shipping the locos in late September.

Best regards,

Chris

Very interesting. I'm curious how these will actually look in person though. The wheel gap likely needs to stay under/within the body skirting or it will look very odd. Then again that is much easier on a GE 4/4III than a crocodile!

If this trend continues I"d be tempted to sell off my HOm for standard HO couterparts, but I don't think the regauging trick will work for many models in the Bemo/RHB range...

Uh oh! I smell the need for another showcase! Always loved these variants and spent a lot of time humming and hawing over the Bemo showcases in Zurich last time I was there.

I personally still prefer the division between narrow and standard gauge...
Ep. III (My layout is set in 1962).
I collect mainly DSB, DB and SBB but I'm quite... Open minded.
I'm quite a big collector of NOHAB lok :)

my friend will be thrilled when he hears that, he bought all HO carriages and now he can buy these locos in HO. his layout hasn't got any narrow gauge tracks hence he bought the HO carriages.
just emailed him the flyer.

I do too. I have just run into space challenges. I have debated adding a 'dual ' gauge section in an existing area but the narrow gauge would have to essentially run off the layout. There would be no real operating capability. The alternative would be a large rip and replace which I can't quite stomach right now.

Agree that this is fantastic news for those of us that are fans of Switzerland railways; I have all the BEMO Glacier Express carriages so can't wait to get the Lok. BigGrin Of late, I've also started buying some ROCO AC Loks......just seems that they don't make high volumes of the AC versions.

I have always dreamt of having the space for a narrow gauge feeder railway on my HO layout. In particular the Swiss HOm models I find very attractive.

However, I don't agree with re-gauging these locos to standard gauge, as I feel this detracts from the whole point of the narrow gauge in the first place. I prefer being able to see the difference between the two gauges in the track and in the vehicles themselves.

Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

A friend of mine has ordered previously the carriages for these express trains in HO but there was no loco available. it is a bit odd a.) first producing carriages in HO and b.) no locos, so his dream has come true but at A$ 600.00 a piece its not cheap but he'll find the money for 2.

This dealer is offering free WW shipping for orders placed before 19 August. I placed my order yesterday for the Glacier on Tour Loco and the set of 6 Panoramawagon cars!! I reckon the first production batch to sell out fairly quickly.
