Hello everybody, i have been using my CS2 alone from a time now, but now i have connected again a MS2 and a couple of MS1, all units are running the latest software version, but sometimes they are recognized as slaves, sometimes the NO MASTER message is shown in the MS1 and the MS2 got stucked in the Marklin first screen, and when units are recognized they usually stop working in the middle of operation, several resets and reupgrades both from the net and USB stick have been performed with no sucess.
Did anybody had a similar problem? any clue?
Regards and thanks in advance
Francisco

I am no help at all, sorry.
I have had my MS2 plugged into my CS2 for years, and no problem. I have to go to the "loco list" if I want the MS to control a locomotive not loaded on the Ms. That takes a matter of seconds. The new locomotive has to load onto one of the ten spaces already loaded, and displace the locomotive in that slot. Maybe an e mail to MArklin in Goppingen?

Fransisco,

I have not had that specific problem, but I have had numerous other odd behaviors from my 60215 CS2 since I updated its software about a month ago. At first I thought it was a coincidence, but now I am not so sure. There is a thread on the forum about ghost running and I had never seen that since my 6021 days and then only occasionally. But today when I booted up my CS2 one of my V 4.0 LokPilot equipped DCC locos started to run even though no speed steps were commanded. My 2 month old ESU V 200 will no longer run at all, but it does everything else just fine. I deregistered it and now it will not talk to the CS2 at all. My Insider VT 95.9 railbus started shutting down the CS2 as soon as it was recognized after that update. I assumed it was the 39952 causing the problem but now I wonder. The app on my iPad no longer stays in synch with the CS and it shows functions active which are not. If I turn them off and back on it is fine again. I had a very hard time getting my mfx Baden IVh loco to register, but I did finally succeed. Before that I had never had any mfx registration issues. But mfx is sort of shaky at best and I blamed it on the loco.

So at first I assumed that it was the individual locos causing these problems but now it seems to me more like a pattern of inconsistent commands and behavior from the CS2 after that update. I do too many software updates in my life as a developer to pay a lot of attention to version numbers unfortunately, so I have no idea what version I was running, but now I am running 4.1.2(3). Last year when I packed stuff up in June 2016 everything was working perfectly. Tonight I just ran five trains without a single problem, so it does mostly still work. I would love to figure it out though and get back to just having fun with my MRR. BigGrin

Regards,
Jim

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.

mmmmmm, perhaps it is a bug in the newest firmware version, i have had no problems running locos so far but some years ago i had similar beahviour with the TFP, later solved. Bad thing is that back on those days you were able to make downgrades, wich is impossible now, hopufully it will be solved with a new upgrade, conspiracionist may think it could be a way to make you buy the CS3....lets wait for some answer from mother M

As Märklin is planning to release an update to the CS2 to enable the larger set of functions, there should be an update coming later this year... so get on the horn to M and let them know of the bug.

It´s possible Märklin do have problems with the soft program.
Because they seems have already problem with the CS3.
Last time to upgrade was 19th december.
It´s three months ago!
I still wait to choice CS3 or Ecos 50210.
The more i learn about Märklins bug or problems the bigger distance.

Some really basic problem isolation please..... !

But first confirm you full configuration. 3 mobile stations may only be connected with the aid of
- 60124 adapter cable via the "60174 booster" port
- a terminal
Please also indicate what other devices are on the system bus

A) Then. ensure all plugs are well seated.

B) try with only two Mobile Stations at a time
if still in error ..
C) try one Mobile Station connected at a time

If either of these two actions produce a stable situation.
D) Identify the port(s) that is/are empty and retry the "good" devices in that port

E) If you cannot get even one mobile station to work, and presuming no other devices on the bus, then it points to your CS2

From your basic description , it is more likely that the MS1s (one or both) are out of tolerance and loading the bus.
But it may be that the MS2 or CS2 itself is out of tolerance.

You are welcome to throw your CS2 (gently) in my direction.
Peter
