Hello,
I am thinking of building a staging (fiddle) yard that will not be in view of my 6021 controller that would be for a second person to make up trains, etc.
I have a slave controller (an 80f) but cable is not long enough to reach the staging area.
If I want the second person to control the trains in the staging area - what options exist using the 6021 ( I don't have the cash for a CS). I do have a second 6021 - could this be used with appropriate track isolation and if so how?
Other suggested solutions would be appreciated.
I am not aware of any wireless control that works with a 6021 - which would be an ideal solution.

1 - Uhlenbrock makes a Loconet adapter for the 6021, making it possible to attach a Uhlenbrock Daisy handheld;
2 - Uhlenbrock makes a Mobile Station adapter for the 6021, making it possible to attach a Mobile Station;
3 - ESU had the Mobile Control 51100 that was directly attached to the 6021. You should be able to get one from ebay.

You could cut the cable in half and extend it with the appropriate plug and socket.
What part of NZ are you in either the Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch clubs could help you out potentially.

Thanks for the good ideas.
Have not seen Uhlenbrock in New Zealand. Can anyone tell me the part number for the mobile station adaptor (as their Web pages are not in English)?
John - could you elaborate on what you mean when you say cut the cable in half?

Hi Maurice,
The only thing special about the cable is the connectors.
If you cut the cable in half add plugs at the cut and build an extension cable you can plug it in and extend the cable.

Hi John,
Your suggestion looks like the most economical but have appreciated the comments from others.
John, if you are talking about the 80f ribbon cable is there a limit to the length of cable that can be between the control unit and the 80f? I seem to remember reading somewhere you could join two ribbon cables together but that was the limit.
I guess the cable and connectors can be purchased easily. I don't have much electronics
expertise.

Maurice, as John suggests, where are you in NZ? There are Marklin clubs in Auckland, Wellington, Chrischurch and the Manawatu, and any of these clubs can help/show you what to do.
As far as the connectors go, they don't have to be the same as what the 6021 uses, they just need to be capable of being installed on a ribbon cable with the correct number of pins, so that you can insert an extension piece into the Marklin cable. You should be able to get cable and connectors from any Dick Smith or Jaycar outlets. The guys at Jaycar could probably help you out, as they tend to be more electronics enthusiast types than the DSE people.
The connectors are usually crimped on to the cable, after correctly lining up the cable with the pins. You would need 2 sets of male/female connectors, plus whatever length of cable.
