Hello...
I try to make programming track with CS2 & S88 decoders. Recently, I know about that there is K83, K84 decoder in marklin digital system. Are these decoders also need to use for programming with CS2? If I have CS2, these decoders don't need?
What is exactly function for K83, K84 decoder?
Regards.

Regards. Based on this post and your other post, I am getting the impression you are trying to do something with the programming track that it is not intended for, especially with your S88 comment. The programming track should be an isolated piece of track connected to the programming output of the CS2 so that you can place a loco or other function decoder device on that track and change the address, the CV values , and so on, without affecting the other locos on your layout. So I'm not sure what you are trying to do with an S88 on your programming track. The K83 is a decoder to operate up to 4 solenoid devices such as turnouts or signals that only require a timed pulse to change state. The K84 is a similar decoder but is used for motorized devices or lighting, or anything else that needs to have a constant supply of power when switched. These decoders need to have their addresses set so that they can be controlled by the CS2 Keyboard screen for the appropriate 4 addresses. Peter

Regards. Think of it this way - s88 is for sending information to the CS2, k83/k84 receive information from the CS2. PMPeter described the difference between a k83 and a k84. I think that when you talk about a programming track, you mean a contact track where a loco makes a contact of some type. This contact action can be sent to the CS2 so that the CS2 knows that the loco has reached a particular point on the layout. If you have a contact track, you can feed its output to a s88 unit connected to your CS2. The CS2 will register the input and you can make this do something, like change a signal, by correctly programming the CS2 and making it send a command to the correct k83/k84 unit. |

Regards. k83 is for magnetic motor/signals. k84 is for turnout motor/color signal/switch on/off lighting/switch on/off power of track area. k83 and 84 are old models and today Märklin produce m83 and m84 which are more advance functions decoder. m83 and m84 can been program in the CS2/CS3. |
