Joined: 01/09/2016(UTC) Posts: 4 Location: Massachusetts, Townsend		Hi I had a Macklin train set given to me. Have been told it is over 35 years old. Looking for maintenance help to get the locomotive running efficiently. First time fired up in 35 years and surprisingly chugged along but slowly. What should I do to get it running smoothly? I have tried to identify the model type to get user guide but can't identify. Any and all help for pointers. Thanks in advance! Jerry

Otherwise, a good cleaning done by a shop or an experienced Marklin lover should bring her back to form.

The other thing that you could do is ask if any of the forum members from your state can provide you with support. Martin Hoffman's advice is helpful. I would also agree that posting photos (box and models) would help us provide specific information about your model. I hope that this is of use to you. Regards Mike C

As for servicing your loco, only use oil designed for model railways - WD40 can be dangerous! In addition, over-oiling can do more harm than good. Regards Peter

Looking now to have a few spare pickup shoes on hand. Any assistance on part number for these as there are several that I see on Ebay and want to get the right model. Is it the 7164? Jerry
