I decides to check what members here in this forum would have done to shop Märklin trains by choice if you have € 50,000.
Please vote and let´s see the result!

50,000 euros is about $NZD 75,800.

I might spend $800 on Marklin trains, the rest would almost pay my mortgage off. Less mortgage interest equals more $$$ for Marklin trains (or whatever - car, travel, donations, savings, investments, etc) so everyone wins except the Bank!

I would spend nothing on Marklin, € 1000 on Trix Express and € 5000 on fishing gear
The rest woud go to my boys, my wife, my cats, my mum and my two houses (new furniture, mortgage etc).

Marklin would be a low priority on my list. Sure , I wouldn't mind a Ferrari either but I might not want the maintenance cost that go with it. My Nortons dont cost that much but I do require a bit to help them along, like 3 new gears and a set of clutch plates this year. My VX Landcruisers still going strong but its 20 years old this month. Some time this year I got "but you have already spent $600.00 this year on Marklin" from my FD. Be nice to have my own Yacht but its fun racing other peoples. My priority at the moment is preparing myself for the ride from Cape Reinga to Bluff next month on my Commando.

Come on guys, stop being so sensible. This is supposed to be fun! Anyway Anders only gives us two choices, so if you don't spend it on the 32000 what other Marklin stuff would you spend it on?

I'm thinking I could spend a couple of thousand on Banana wagons just to beat Ian's collection... BigGrin

England here I come, another good holiday, I'll wait for Märklin to produce the electrically operated double switches (C-track) and I also wait for K-track turnouts with a much wider radius (prototypical)

You'll be like the apprentice sent out to get a long wait.

And who says we have to be sensible.

Someone is dreaming about and bike that only 48 were made. [ well 38 plus 10 ] Could be better of with an RE500. Engine might last better.

Now if we have 50,000 to spend on Model trains, would you spend it all on Marklin? That's asking the question a different way, and the answer would probably be "maybe most of it."

Easy - the outrageous cost of healthcare in the United States following my heart attack for suddenly coming into 50000 Euros. After that, with thats left, I would split between Marklin and Piko (I am getting further and further drawn into Piko rolling stock) undoubtedly

Hi all

I Ulm like a Kroc but not the millennium model. Nor would I like digital stuff.

So, if I may, I would buy at least 2 mint condition 3015 models.
I would also use the rest of the money to build an extension to put my layout in.BigGrin

Well if I had 50,000 to spend on trains the only ones I would buy if I could find them would be TWE700 B in blue an TWE700 r in red to go with my TWE700. I dont buy new locos and enjoy finding older ones from 50s/60s. Those 2 if I was lucky might cost between 2500/5000 for both. I have 3 grandchildern in Canada with another due just after Christmas who are at the top of the list for things like college funds etc. Even if I won the Loto I dont think I would buy many trains. You can only play with so many at at any given time. Eddie Cool Cool

Last place to buy Marklin would be on their site I guess....

20 NEW digital locos. about 4000? search and you will find
100 NEW passenger wagons. doable for less than 3500
100 NEW Freight wagons. Probably less than 2000

Haven't yet bought any track worth mentioning but I am guessing there would be 40.500 left in the budget!!

Sorry i was tired yesterday to count out the sum.
I agree i should have write more stuff.
An exemple:
20 new digital locomotives á € 500=€ 10,000
100 new passenger car á € 45=€ 4,500
200 new gods wagon á € 32=€ 6,400
1 CS3+ € 700
1 CS3 € 540
3 trafo á € 70=€ 210
100 flex track á €10=€ 1,000
30 turnouts á €25=€ 750

It´s now about € 25,000!
Still left to shop Märklin...

I would build an insulated cabin in the garden spend a relatively small sum on mods and relocation of the Ho MRR train room then start from scratch on an inside/outside gauge 1 layout with all the bells and whistles

I try to be a candidate by "who wants to be a millionaire". If I did it and win, yes the old scottish Confused company Maerklin gets a bit of the cake. Not yet thought about the bits and bytes size of the piece of cake. Blink

50K EUROS = $75K CAD

$5K trains - Marklin and Roco ThumpUp

$70K in a fund for a rainy day.

I know, I am a bore; my wife agrees with you.

Reality: I really don't know what I would do with the $70K Blushing

Hi all Cool

Today the 15 december 2016 50000 Euros = 69490 $ canadian

At present I establish a Marklin's file Layout for the insurances. We are going to move and I want to assure everything.

I think well that I arrived in more than half, not far in any case, 50000 Euros.

With the extension planned in the future (to see my comment Laurentites-Neudstadt) I shall not be far from here 2-3 years of this sum.

When the evaluation for the insurance will be ended, I shall post her here...but this is a work very long to do
