So... It's almost that time of the year.
Which new items would you like to see next year?
Personally:
U-HANSA sleeping car (DSG, CIWL...) A refreshed BR 38 Ep. III FS (Italy) wagons EP. III (they do them for Trix in 1:87 scale, they did them for Riviera Express 1:100... Is asking too much to have two in 1:93,5?) DSB (Denmark) Litra B Ep. III (again, it should be quite an easy repainting, they do them EP. IV and V, they can do them also for EP. III...) Some SBB passenger wagons Ep. III
|
Ep. III (My layout is set in 1962).
I collect mainly DSB, DB and SBB but I'm quite... Open minded.
I'm quite a big collector of NOHAB lok :) |

I would like to see:
More Hobby locos available without sound to keep the cost down More 1:100 coaches in the Hobby range in different liveries and Nationalities Freight wagons released singly instead of expensive sets. One High end loco per year so that I can afford to keep up! |

Apart from the standard gauge Garratts in UK (LNER and LMS) I've read about examples in Mauritius, Turkey, Holland, Argentina, and others Broage gauge Garratts were found in India and Sri Lanka, but also in Russia, Spain and some South American countries |

Originally Posted by: Jabez A Beyer-Garratt triple articulated loco of the type that was used in RSA and on Rhodesian Railways and other places in Africa, Asia, and South America would be quite fun. A full history of the Garratt type can be found in the late A.E. Durrant's book "Garratt Locomotives of the World". From this it can be deduced that there are very few prototypes in Europe for Marklin to choose from. Two main line classes in the UK, one of which has been done as a limited edition by the Hatton's shop, and the other was a single item only along with a few industrials. Russia had a single loco only which vanished after trials. There were two Belgian Belgian metre gauge and a single Dutch example which were tram type locomotives. The only other relatively large scale user in Europe was Spain where there were several classes on the narrow gauge and two classes on the broad gauge, a 4-6-2+2-6-4 intended for passenger service and a 2-8-2+2-8-2 for freight service. The Spanish firm of Mabar has announced its intention to develop a model of the latter but without any timescale. looking further afield Uereka Models of Australia have their magnificent model of a New South Wales AD60 4-8-4+4-8-4. If you do not minding mixing your continents it has the advantages that the Australian loading gauge is not too far from European, it is fitted with side buffers and of course it follows the track much more closely than say a Mallet with its hangover at the front. The British firm of DJH produces kits for the AD60 and the South African GMA/M 4-8-2+2-8-4 in HO and HOm, the latter of course being more correct for the prototypes three foot six inch gauge (1067 mm). i am in favour of the Garrett as well. But, what would it cost????More than a "big baby"??? As I have limited my choices of Locos to German and Swiss, would there have been one in those railways.?? New Zealand had a Garrett as well [ 3'6" gauge ] but it was too powerful for our draw bars and they kept breaking. The NZR then converted it into two loco's.

Yeah well.. Wishing is all I can do.. I have a total ban in place for 2017, except for the MM wagon and Christmas Car, because I came in well short of the 60 items I was supposed to sell this year.. It does not help that I managed to score the MAS IV ore car set (counts as one item) and the little Insider Railcar for 2016 (also counts as one item).. Oh and the Piano wagon, the Pepsi Re460, the two Economic Miracle sets, the TEE Vt11.5 and a few dozen other things.. I am in the poo. |

Dereck NZR had six Garretts that became 12 locos after they were split. It wasn't the drawbars that kept breaking AIUI, but the first wagons in the train got pulled in two.

A refurbished BR 101 with center motor An era V InterCity train in grey with the red stripe
Awesome combo!
More C track - standard wish. I would like an R10 and some piece that would make the R9 go 15 degree. That way I could make a nice slim curve.

I would like to see a model of the SBB Twindexx already mentioned above or the newly revealed SBB Giruno. It would be nice to have something like these from Maerklin and not from some of the lesser brands. I would guess that models with more variants would be more interesting to Maerklin, so I would consider a model of FLIRT or KISS type trainsets too, even though I already have models of those from Liliput.
Other than that, I would love to see an Ae 4/7 and EWI coaches to go with the earlier models of the SBB Lightsteel coaches.
Beyond that, I would like to see an Era IV version of Trix 23414 FS Coach set with UIC markings, the SBB WRm in orange with white stripe and a SBB Re 460 with Faiveley pantograph (E140787). All they would have to do is to design a prototypical wiper for the pantograph and mount them on a renumbered 37462 or Werbelok.
Regards
Mike C

BR 05 top streamlined, chassis uncovered (like Micro Metakit made before); BR 52 new tooling; E 18 Era 3 blue (like 39680) with full sound; Rheingold coaches for Era 3 reissue (for use with E 10). Production of premium locos and wagon sets in China is unwelcome.

It would be nice if Marklin (or Roco) would do a BR01 and BR03 in epoch IIIa livery with Witte deflectors - ie circa 1954 instead of the Wagners only used immediately after the war.
Marklin have a BR01.10 (model is the 37104 Bellingrodt BR01.10 and it is somewhat let down by having the old DCM motor) Roco have BR03.10 for 3 rail in this state (have the blue Mauritius and standard black)
BR44 with new motor (not DCM thx) and tooling (like what they did for the BR50) would also be great. |
