Hello,
If I switch to the CS3+, is it possible to transfer all my CS2 accessories/locos datas to the CS3 so that I can immediately run my layout under the new CS3+ ?
Thank you for your help, Francois.

Short answer...Yes!
But you cannot export CS3+ data to the CS2.

There is manual for the CS3+ in the Märklins homepage by download.

Tip for users of CS3 and CS3 plus : wait a while with the transfer of the (old) CS2 to CS3 files. According to Stummi Forum will hereby prevent certain features may not operate more in CS3. Marklin is working on an update. Without transferring the old CS2 files CS3 works, despite some minor software bugs - RML 3railforum.

you just restore the backup from a USB stick, but use a Backup file from your old CS2. My import worked fine, but wait a few days some users did encounter problems.

Kind regards
Jörg

Hello to everybody,

I'm just asking, what about the CS1 (Märklin 60212)? Would I be allowed to transfer all the datas to a new CS3 or not? The Manual seems supposing you need a CS2 to connect through an Ethernet cable to the CS1.
What do you think about, please
Best regards

It seems that transferring data from a CS2 to a CS3 currently bricks the CS3. Do not try this until Märklin tell is it can safely be done.
This transfer uses USB memory.

The 60212 can be used as a slave with the CS2. I presume the data transfer goes the other way: the master CS2 transfers some data to the slave CS1.
I expect that CS1 users have to start from scratch when switching to a CS3 now.
Regards
Tom

Hello

Has anyone managed to transfer data from CS2 to CS3 correctly? Most important for me is to transfer layout data without an issue...

Thanks

I only got a CS 3+ and did not have the transfer problem from a CS 2. Nevertheless the handbook describes the transfer as very easy. Doing a regular backup on an USB-stick at the CS 2. Stick the stick into the CS 3 and download the CS 2 data into the CS 3. It sounds not complicated.

The problem arises at the layout. Somewhere at a Maerklin publication (sorry, name forgotten) I read that the differences between the layout of a CS 2 to a CS 3 are so substantial, there is no possibility of a transfer. It has to be built up again at the CS 3. But of course you have the advantage, all your magnetic articles are availbale from the transfer.

At MM 03/2016 page 25 Maerklin writes, if you got a CS 2 60213 or 60214 for connection purposes you must use a CS 3 PLUS!

I myself have the opinion that also the first model of CS 2 60215 (till software version 3) can only be connected with a CS 3+ because of the missing galvanic seperation inside.

The process does work with the current CS3 version (2.3.1).

My biggest problem was getting my CS2 to recognise a USB stick to write to - had to try several before a 4 month old Toshiba 16Gb stick worked. The stick should be formatted FAT32.

The process is

- Insert USB stick into CS2 (may need to try several before one works)
- Perform a system backup to USB. Name the file some appropriate.
- Remove USB stick from CS2 and insert it in the CS3 (you may also need to have a mouse plugged into the 2nd USB port before the stick is seen - needs verifying)
- Perform a system restore from the file on the USB stick (located in the 'cs2' directory)
- Wait for a while, then a popup screen in German appears. Click on the message tick box to clear it, after about 30 seconds you should see your locos and solenoid devices appear.

No, you are wrong here. ALL 60215 have the galvanic isolation. The later 60214 also have it, the earlier 60214 do not have it. The difference can be determined by the hardware revision level that is listed when looking at the hardware screen, but I can never remember the hardware revisions (rev 3.something against rev 4.something IIRC).

Hello,
I am shifting from a CS3+ to a new one, and I would like to only transfer the loco datas, nothing else (the new CS3+ has lots of datas for a new layout...).
Is it feasible ?
Thank you for your help.

No, you cannot transfer only loco data as there is no ability to pick and choose in the transfer process what items you want to transfer - it is an all or nothing process.
