Hello all
This question might have come up before, I have no clue, but what does anyone know about the Brau brand? They look like they come in a Marklin-ish blue box from the 80's, but my research to date seems to point them towards something released from Roco. Can anyone shed some light on this brand? I'd never even heard of it until this evening.
Thanks |

A couple of years ago, a north Florida ebay seller had a run of about 30 or so BAUR beer wagons on auction over two or three weeks. I managed to snag four at dear prices and wish I had done better.
The ones I got were new in the box and originally for sale by Rolling Stock Exchange (appartently defunct) in Miami for about $22. The box is blue with white labels. No date is shown. Info on the box lists 'steel bearing axles with no leaking during storage'. ROCO coupler part number and ROCO AC and DC wheelset part numbewr are provided. Claims most modern printing methods, exact (precision) printing, and higher color count.
These have highly detailed graphics, mostly very colorful and roll really well. I'll buy any more that I see if I can find any and I am not even a beer wagon fanatic.
I found a mention on a board where someone was looking for info on the company. The company was Lutz Baur in Bad Waldsee, W. Germany and is also apparently defunct. A successor company Wörner Modellbahnen was mentioned but remnants of web pages are mostly defunct as well.
Not entirely clear but it seems they may have sourced the wagons from ROCO and specialized in the highly detailed graphics. May have done work with other companies as well, based on forum comments.
That's all I know.

And one last addendum, it finally came the day before yesterday and I have to say I am quite impressed with the detail. Looks like I have another line brand of Beer cars to be watching out for, although I can still argue that these in my opinion come under a Roco heading, like the few Primex examples coming under a Marklin heading. |
