True Luis, that's my situation here. However, we have a Model Rail Exhibition that our club jointly organises with 2 other clubs coming up in November. Our main Marklin dealer (www.toottoot.co.nz) normally attends this exhibition, so hopefully he will have a CS2 with him that we can all take a look at.

I sounds like the same problem we had with the English edition of the eCOS. What you have is a German keyboard on the keylock... ESU fixed the problem months ago, (April this year from memory) but I can't remember if the update made it to the CS1..[B)]

Time for me to chip in with my impressions so far.

Serial no. 1900, hardware version 3.1, software version 1.05(2)

Generally, I really like the CS2 and I am sure that it will fit my needs for a control setup for a long time to come. As already documented there are issues that need resolving (English keyboard, missing function icons etc.), but as far as I can tell from Stummi's forum these are all acknowledged by Göppingen and being worked upon.

I received the CS2 at the beginning of the week, but only had time to start playing yesterday so there are still things that I haven't tried yet. Initial setup seemed absolutely painless. I powered up, connected a LAN cable from my router and hit the update button, CS2 phoned home and updated itself to 1.05(2). Powered down again and connected cabling to the track sections, programming track and my 60173 booster, rechecked everything and realised that red/brown were actually crossed on one of the two supplied connectors - this explains the small 1-page reminder in the package

Having fixed this I then switched both CS2 and Booster trafos on simultaneously and shortly after I could add a couple of mfx locs - big change from the CS1 here, literally just takes a few seconds. The annoying part is that you have to edit the funtion buttons afterwards as not all assigned functions are read by the CS2, I am sure this will be fixed but it is annoying! On the subject of loc editing, I have not been able to assign a custom picture to a loc (Thomas 36120) despite following the instruction in the on-line help. I have seen other reports about this on Stummi's forum.

Moving on to the Keyboard section, I added all my switches and checked that they responded. Next, defined a few routes in the Memory section - really easy as well. Finally, I played around with the layout section a while and managed to mimic my SchattenBahnhof fairly well. Please notice that I have not started any advanced controlling yet, such as using contact tracks, S88 etc. so you will have to look elsewhere to find out whether there are any problems of that kind. Before going to bed I did a full backup, both internally and to a USB stick - haven't tried a restore yet, though.

So far, so good. For the moment I'll keep my CS1 so that I can still play around with function mapping, but let's see if Mother M doesn't cave in to user pressure at one point and provides us with that in CS2 as well

Can you transfer your setups from CS1 to CS2 without having to recreate everything ?

Just received my CS2 60213 and so far I am pleased with it. All I managed to do so far is power it up and connect my PS2 keyboard with built in touchpad (via a PS2 to USB adapter) and my USB trackball, all connected with a powered USB hub. All work perfectly together and very smooth scrolling on the trackball.

Will have to do more testing before I connect it to my layout and try my current software on it.

I agree , when all of the bugs are worked out and all of the functions implemented it will be a lovely piece of equipment.

But the OZ $$ has to get back up to around .85- .90USD to make it affordable.

$1350-1400 OZ $ makes it very expensive.
