Hey everyone,

I'm helping a friend sell part of his collection. There is one item for which I have not been able to find any good information. It is a small steam locomotive in a sealed Primex 3197 box. Foto attached. The lok is an 0 6 0 LMS (London, Midland and Scottish Railway) steam engine.

Can someone out there shed any light on this? Any guesses on value would be appreciated also.

Hi,

This is really a rare version. As far as I remember about 200 were made (also 200 green LNER) around 1991. Locos on Ebay Germany reached +250 EUR in the past. 3197 is the number of the usual black version.

Yes,

500 euro is silly money for such a basic loco. It would be a trivial matter to take a basic black 3197, spray it green, and add decals for LNER...

Hi Ray,

This is just a collectors thing. A PRIMEX - collection without these locos is not complete. And other people pay thousands of EUR/GBP/USD for stamps which are void. Even if they already have a colour-copy of the stanp.
