we most probably all agree the first 800 series and before are classic locos but the danger of them falling apart if not treated properly is a possibility. SK 800's for instance.

any of the early locos with rubber tyres are my favoured ones and there have been a few between that didn't. the early BR 44 didn't have rubber tyres and the smokestack didn't have hole to add a smoke generator. but all in all they all looked the same, had the same mechanism, than the BR 01, 3025 was another beauty. most probably the first loco with marker lights and of course we all cherish the crocodile, had the opportunity to buy a croc under the catalogue number 3915 (kitform) but didn't realize the number at the time. this loco came in a box and you had to assembly it yourself.
We don't talk much about the locos with all wheel drive and there are either 2 or 3 locos which come to mind. NS and SBB with wurm drive SEH 800.

Br 44, No question about it. My old friend since I was in diapers. Mine must have 1,000,000 miles on it and it's just getting broken-in! I wonder how many gallons of smoke fluid I burned in that baby. smoooooth.

My favourite? For me it's got to be the only loco that's been with me all my life. My CM800 bought by my Dad for my brother as a Christmas present when I was two weeks old! Luckily my brother wasn't interested in trains....

Here it is. Märklin 3047 BR 44. I got it as a present in mid 60's from my late uncle who worked in Sweden at that time.
Still in use and going strong!

Hi allCool

Here is mine.

This loco is the link between Canada and Belgium. She has a whole history. It is not a marklin, it is a product of an excellent Belgian manufacturer: Olaerts

My most favoured would have to be the early crocodiles, though was never able to afford to buy on.
For the moment, my favourite is the br23 [ 800 series ] which I got in 1957 along with the br89 and the sbb re4-4 [ the 2-4-2 variety res800? ]

I later got an F-800 that had done millions of miles on it, and which I had to make larger axels to take up all the slack and fitted 2 new 18 tooth idler gears and a new reverse switch.

If I could put picture on here I would. [ tutorial for 95 year olds required here ] Hint Hint.

Like a lot of others posting here, my first lok is one of my favourites. It is the 3011 pictured on the right.

Bought by my father in 1957 and then handed to me when I was around 6 or 7.

It is still going well and regularly appears at shows on our layout pulling a tin plate consist.BigGrin

3048, Br01.

Has been with me since I can remember, and is probably older than myself. Alas, not too much older!

My favourite is the 3003 Prairie Pony. Received one as a Christmas present when mid primary school age, and sold it in my late teens - an action I have regretted ever since.

I now have a 30032, the large tender version, which I will keep as an analogue loco I think. I also have a couple of the 3624x new version which I like for the slightly better detail and more realistic appearance, but they don't have the memories of the original 3003.

Hi all,

My 3019.2 is one of my favourites because it's truly mint condition and orignal, including the box, the quality control tag and the papers. Of course it still has the original transparent plastic traction tires and the old pickup shoe from the late 1950s.

Best regards, Mark

I like Märklin items produced in the 1960s or early '70s, but also digital locos & current rolling stock.
