Hi, Has anyone added a smoke unit to the above locomotive ? Doesn't appear any holes in the stack so concerned to drill. However would look good billowing smoke? Also if I can add one, will there be room to add a digital decoder? Currently using M track, but have had valuable advice and thinking of going digital. Doesn't seem much room under the cover. Advice please?

If you need to drill thru the smoke stack on this particular engine i would say that there might not be room to insert a smoke unit as they need to be touching a braSS PLATE THAT IS CONNECTED TO THE FRONT LIGHT FITTING THAT WILL THEN ALLOW THE SMOKE UNIT TO FUNCTIOn. I would read up and have a look on line to find out aas much info as yu can before you drill thru the smoke stack. Just my opinion others might say different.

Hi, The old Br38 tooling from Marklin is pretty full up front as the motor was added up near the smoke-box with the intention of keeping the cab free of motor. I would suggest that it may be possible but perhaps rather difficult. The decoder is easy to fit in the space intended for the reversing relay.
