Hi there, I have a Marklin 3067 my1100,  what would be a suitable, and hopefully easy to find train to run behind it? many thanks, Rob

Märklin's 4045.1 vintage DSB coach matches this locomotive, but it isn't very cheap.

Dear Kurt, Yes, I'm still collecting. The 48 cars were just the longest train which ran without derailing. So in the moment I'm purchasing the cars for the opposite train. Also POCHER had some very nice CARLSBERG-cars to run with 3067:  Regards Markus

Thanks Guy's, a worldwide ebay search has turned up only a couple of 4045.1 from the suggested coaches, as Alberto says they are certainly not cheap, something should turn up. btw was 4045.1 the only one of it's type? or are there matching coaches, cheers Rob

I think 00766-07 may fit your needs and the price is not high as 4045.1 that is really the best option.
Edit: Was checking the price and I was surprised because thought it was lower. |

I think that the 00766-07 would be good if you want tinplate coaches. If you want to go with the 27cm (1:100) coaches, there was the 4269/42691 Night Train Coaches. I consider Luca Grampa from Italy a very reliable seller,he has a number of nice Marklin items on offer,in fact a long list!
Over the weekend,i bought the steamer series 10 Marklin 34080 from him.
I bought from him before,first class items,as advertised.
For your Danish coaches,see also Marklin 42816,a set of two long length coaches in plastic.
The shorter ones you bought from Luca are tinplate. |

I have the 27cm plastic coaches from the DSB mail train set. They have the newer large DSB logo so are not really the same period as the 3067 in that livery. They do look nice though!  |

What time period or years within Era 3 would you say these coaches would have run? Hi Mark, Never. While the 4045 was a are more or less correct 1/100 model of the real DSB-cars with their specific details (windows, roof - compare the picture above), the 00766-7 is just a repainted DB-car. The DSB had no such cars. The DSB-cars were shorter than the usual UIC-types to use them in ferry-service. Regards Markus

Catching this thread a little late, but it instantly prompted memories of the TEE Merkur, which had a 2 or 3 TEE cars continuing from Hamburg to Copenhagen, over Puttgarden and Rodby. The coaches were standar DB TEE coaches unusally 1 or 2 Abteilwagen and one Grossraumwagen. And you guessed it: on the Danish section it was pulled by a MY 1100, and even sometimes 2 of them like a picture I have here proves , showing the MerkUr leaving Copenhagen with two TEE coaches.
Short train, but definitely prototypical.
FYI, from Puttgarten traction was provided by a DB BR221 diesel.
Hope this gives you some more ideas.

Does anyone know of cars that I can marklinize to be as proto as possible to a Danish train in the 50s? ... and the loco itself, I have yet to find stats, when did it come into use in Denmark?

The MY class entered service in 1954. The most prototypical you can get for a fast period train is Heljan type Cc coaches and for general use all the C_ type coaches made by Heljan. You should be able to get Märklin wheels for them. Alternatively some of the coaches with inset doors mentioned above, but they're not really prototypical if you're fussy about it. Keep in mind, though, that the 3067 is shorter than prototypical and the Heljan coaches are not. |

But you know - a 3067 with a short string of 4045.1s is also kind of prototypical in the sense that this was the train that ran on all the basement and living room and attic layouts in Denmark when I grew up. |

Hi Mark, It all depends on your budget and of your preferences. If you like exact, but not cheap cars look for HELJAN. Or for the Märklin-special-series from Tog&Tekno. But also expensive. LILIPUT had a large assortement of models in DSB-livery during the 1970s and 1980s. Many of these models are not hard to find and not so expemsive. But you must change the wheels when you run on M-track. If you prefer the Märklin-style of the 1950s and 1960s you should look at LONG. They produced a range of goods-cars which look fine together with Märklin 45XX and 46XX cars. These are hard to find at least outside of Denmark, and not cheap. But very nice Danish toys.
