My pick would be that the cs3+ replaces the cs2, and the cs3 replaces the ms2 or is a cutdown cs3+ for use in mega start sets. In both cases i suspect they will have used a faster processor to get the speed up, and to handle the problems you get when you add a new mfx loco to a layout that already has a lot of mfx locos on it - exactly the problem that Nigel has.

I don´t think so. CS3plus are perhaps with similar cab, while the CS3 is without. |

Considering the indicated price tag it seems like CS3+ will replace CS2 and CS3 without + will be positioned between the MS2 and CS2, but it seems to expensive to replace MS2. Hopefully the MS2 will still be compatible. Prices also indicate that they still have a touch screen - if it is a "black box" without screen it would be cheaper... My first guess is that Power output is the difference between the two versions, and perhaps a limitation of how many locos and accessories can be connected at the same time... Another guess is that speed knobs are not included in the cheaper one - but the touch screen can be used for driving as well as an attached Mobile Station. No MS2 will be replacement by off MS3. It depends possible to accept larger information in the soft program and it means larger computer chip in the new MS3. The new generation decoder mSD3 says higher soft program in the MS2,but the computer chip is too small for that. Märklin is now trying to sell out MS2,by present more startsets with the MS2 as news 2016. The startset 29000 is one of the reason! |

We're getting a tad off topic here - this thread is meant to be about the unavailability of the CS2, not about supposed features of the CS3 or about the possibility of a MS3.

CS3 do replacement of the CS2. If CS2 is no longer available, then there is no more to discuss about CS2. |

And it seems we can expect at least one more update for the CS2. No need to have speculation about CS3 and MS3 in more than one thread. |
