Well I did it!! I now have two parking sides for the 2 rail portion of the dual layout (2 rail and 3 rail) using my K track. Flapper

Each parking side is controlled by its own switch and I can decide which one to run (or just put a third loco on the main layout) WITHOUT having to use my hands to pull the loco into position. Basically, I now do in analogue what I used to do in digital. BigGrin

I used K track because I want to run both Marklin gear and DC gear on the same layout.

There is not a chance that I could have done it without the help of our friend fkowal who spent hours teaching me how to do these things using Roco track.

As it turned out, I kept on thinking about what fkowal told me and I applied the principles to these tracks. A bit of trial and error and a few temper tantrums (yes, those, too Scared ) , but eventually, it all worked out!!!

As it is, I used those cut pieces of K track with red lines (Marklin cat no. 2295) and connected the side that was cut off to the switch box (cat no. 72730) by a red cable below the cut. I connected the brown pole from the track (where the cable coming from the brown pole of the transformer is anchored) to the switch box and it works just fine.

Oddly enough, the ON button is the yellow one, I push it and the power is on. If I push the green one, the power is off. I tried to see if I could change this, but it does not work. Maybe because this is 2 rail and the whole set up was meant for 3 rail.

Regardless, I feel like I have achieved a major milestone. BigGrin

I appreciate the advantages of digital more now since I see how involved it is to juggle current flow, even at this basic level. It is also more fun, though. I mean, I feel like I am running the trains on the layout from the control centre at Cape Canaveral!

Anyway, it is nice to see what can happen when forum members meet and help other members. ThumpUp

Thanks fkowal.

Hoping that Frank helps you work out a system that doesn't fry any of your decoders.... (ahem)
Be careful to remember what mode you are in when apply power and to which engine you want to run.

Glad you are having fun Silvano.
Its great to see your sense of wonder in the world of electricity.

In single point perspective, where do track lines meet?

It is all analogue, both Marklin and DC.

In future, maybe the near future, I may use my digital wireless remote system on the same layout for running Marklin trains.

My Multimaus and Roco track are waiting for future developments, both in terms of size of the layout and direction, ie: do I want to have digital 2 rail as well as digital Marklin?

I am not sure, since the cost is much higher for digital 2 rail.
