Does anyone have difficulty using new markin on the Intellibox 1? For some reason my loks won't respond.

What mode (DCC or MM) is your locomotive decoder configured for ? What mode (DCC or MM) is the address you wish to use on the IB configured for ?
Ensure the protocols match If necessary disable other protocols in the decoder |

I have no problems with Intellibox and fully compatible decoders. Only MSD and MLD can be a PITA when used with the Intellibox - bugs in the decoder firmware, decoders not working as expected or as documented ... The QA failed with respect to backward compatibility. I don't see a reason to blame Uhlenbrock. |

If the loco was converted with a Märklin decoder then it will only respond to its DCC address (factory default 3) and will ignore the MM address (factory default 78). With respect to supporting multiple protocols, Märklin does not do it like ESU, instead they chose their own way. Often confusing and somewhat illogical. My answer is pure speculation. The best I can do with such a detailed question. |

It is not the IB that recognizes the decoder, it is the decoder that needs to make sense of what the IB is transmitting. Any multi-protocol decoder (not just mfx ones) may have issues if the controller sends protocols in a confusing order. The IB has SOs that may assist to allow the decoder to be a bit more "succinct" about determining protocol. http://www.uhlenbrock.de...03E.apd/Bes65100-01e.pdf(Yes I know it is an IB-II manual but I couldn't be bothered searching for the IB-I equivalent - see pg 159) start with SO#907 if the above advise about fixing protocols is not possible. also SO#22 and SO#25 I presume your IB has software v2 of higher code |

I'm using the IB I. No problem at all. Also the re-programming the MM numbers including a second address is without problems.

thanks everyone for responding. I have tried the MM2 address many times, and also changing the MM2 address many times. I i have not tried the DDC address. Im running in the bay area chap in the blackhawk museum. I will test my loks there and if they work, WONDERFUL, if not im bringing ESU lokpilots to quickly swp for the day. Again many thanks on helping solve a stupid problem.

The decoder manual will tell you that DCC has higher priority. It is by (Märklin) design that the MM address will not work on controllers that support DCC. DCC is better than MM and there is no good reason to use MM when DCC is available. It is possible to disable DCC in the decoder. But it is also by Märklin design that DCC cannot be used to disable DCC to prevent users from locking themselves out. |
