I noticed that the new steamer series 01.5 M 39205 is offered on internet for Euro 450.-,which is some Euro 50.- lower than the M recommended sales price.
I sincerely hope the same will happen for the series 95 M39095,currently having a recommended sales price of Euro 400.- (minus 1 cent).
It throws some light on the available profit margins in the distribution chain.
I take it that even with the lowered prices the seller still earns a profit,so i find it remarkable that a 10 percent discount is given just like that.
Once again i say that it pays to let time do its work.
Downside could be that an actual shop offers full guarantee and service whereas internet sellers may not act likewise. |

But I do have the obligatory (six) SBB Krocs
ECoS 50200, all FX and MFX decoders replaced with ESU V4s, operated in DCC-RailCom+ with ABC brake control.
With the exception of the passenger wagens with Marklin current conducting couplers, all close couplers have been replaced with Roco 40397. |

You can usually get a discount around 20 through 25 % for regular Märklin new items, around 15 through 20 % for MHI items (and Insider models are MHI items). When you ask the right dealers, you will be able to get the 39095 for 340 through 360 Euros, maybe less. Assuming you are an Insider and have the order form. People without Insider order form usually pay a few Euros more. You can pay the RRP to support your local brick'n'mortar store (and many of those also give discounts to steady customers). With respect to 39205: the best price I found today was 384,40 EUR incl. VAT, 5 in stock, available immediately. Price for steady customers, only visible after login. Märklin try to conceal the big margins and the real good prices will show only after logging into the webshop. |

39205 01.5 costed me 377,73 euro (excluding EU VAT, including shipping to Moscow and credit card payment fee). Excellent service at Lokshop.
I guess its a fair price for this very interesting loco.
I don't believe price to go down significantly in the future, the situation seem to be the same we may see with 37870 E 93 Insider 2014.
BTW, 01.5 well deserves Insider status, the choice of BR 95 as next Insider model looks very strange to me.
