hi all,
I just impulse bought a Roco Z21 digital system, part number 10821, at a show. Emphasis on impulse bought as they had me at "iphone control" and the price seemed too good to pass up.
Does anyone have any experience with these? I haven't set it up yet, but it appears to support Marklin Motorola as well as DCC, which means I should be in business without hardware compatibility issues?
I'd be curious to hear your thoughts/advice. I don't need anything fancy, but want to set this up to run a small marklin layout with locos and digital switches/solenoid accesories.

Hi! I´m sitting here too and watching at Z21,to learn about this system. I´m planning to buy this system. I have already Z21 app install in my iPhone and did similar tested. It´s easy to control it and reacts faster than Märklins CS2. Also much more fun than MS2!! |

I have recently bought a Smartrail unit that contains a z21 controller (part of the reason they are so expensive). Reading the manual it seems that it is a full control unit, not a 'reduced features model.
I haven't run it up yet, but I have downloaded the app.
Having said the z21 unit isn't a cut down unit, the panel controls only allow 4 functions to be controlled, but all 16 functions are available from the app AIUI.

With DCC all 29 standard functions should be available. Some controllers support more than 29 functions per loco, but such decoders are still rare. |

Both Z21(black box) and z21(white box) can controls up to 29 functions. Depends of the decoder. |

Hello again Anders, Remember you can also run windows on your Mac by setting up "Bootcamp" Then it is the same as if you are operating by Windows, there are no problems with Mac. Regards, PJ
