Hello,
I created a track plan using Wintrack 8 on one of my computers. I installed Wintrack 8 on another computer and am trying to open the track plan on that but it is giving an error.

It says
"An error occured while loading the track plan. The according .trs filefor this plan is missing. Out of this reason the plan couldn't be opened."

I just copied the my_layout.tra file. Is there any other file that I need to bring over to the other computer in order to open the plan?

Thanks.

I would try an e-mail to the developer:

Ralf Schneider <info@wintrack.de>

Herr Schneider has been very prompt in responding to inquiries and is fluent in English.

Gautham, you need to copy the .trs file referenced in the error you received from Wintrack. I'm not sure what is in this file, but you most definitely need it.

I would echo Sorens comment .. I have got great response from Ralph and team.. (and think the program is terrific)

I checked on my install ... the *.trs files are all in the Wintrack directory .. I creat my trackplans in a seperate directory and have moved them to different machines without problme .....

So maybe something didnt work right in the install?

Not neccessarily, (but not wanting to invalidate Sprogger's advice) some trackplans also create a separate .trs file, and if you do not have it you will never open the .tra file. Several trackplans I have come across on the net have included .trs files in the zip package, of the same name as the .tra file.

Could the problem not be a copyright issue? If the s/w is a single user package it might be "locked" to the initial installation PC. As this s/w is not shareware I think that the company would protect its product somehow. Just a thought.

I did find a bunch of .trs in both computers. But there was no According .trs file. Still not able to open it. I can see the preview of my layout on the window when I try to open the layout. I will try contacting wintrack.

Ok. I found out that the plan I was trying to open is corrupt (after I contacted Ralf). Fortunately I have a backup. Thanks all for your help.
