How do you modify 60944 motor kit for 3072/3147 Br212?

I don't know if this question has been asked before. My apologies if it has been answered recently.
Does anyone know what "extra work" is required to make a 60944 motor kit fit one of the older Br212 diesels with the LFCM motor? The Marklin website does not give any information other than that the motor kit will fit with some "extra work". |

Thanks Fabrice, it looks like quite a bit of work. I'll have to think about it. I might just use a Hamo magnet instead. |

Hi Ray,
Another option is to find the gearbox from a later drum commutator motor (DCM) equipped model and use the 60760/ 60941 motor kit instead.
Cheers, Gordon

Thanks Gordon. It sounds like that option needs a bit of research. Do you know how the gearbox from such a model would fit in the older frame? Are any modifications needed to the chassis? |

Ray, it is my understanding that they are interchangeable, but unfortunately I do not have one of the newer models myself to verify and have not done a conversion of one yet...

I have received a couple of the 60944 kits, and interestingly the instructions quote the 3072 and 3147 V100s as being suitable for conversion, something the earlier kits didn't do. I wonder if they've modified the kit to fit the V100?
I might give it a try. If I find it doesn't fit I'll use the Hamo magnet and LP decoder from a previous conversion on a NS1200 for the V100 and use the 60944 on the 1200. |

Ray,
I'm almost 100% sure this is NOT the case (except on very recent BR212, as stated previously). I hope I'm wrong, but I converted 6 months ago a 3072, and the 60944 doesn't fit, even if the notice says the opposite.
ESU magnet fits well, so have a spare one at hand...
Cheers fabrice

Ray, I have 3072 with an SCFM and 3473 which I believe is DCM based (the latter pending a digital conversion). I'll take a look tonight and see if the chassis are otherwise identical if it's still of interest. Gordon can't check because I have his former 3072 , one of my best running analog loks. -Brandon |

Thanks guys. I'll give it a try with my new 60944 and if it does fit I'll report back here. This is the list on my older 60944 set: and this is the same page on my newer set. Note that they have added a new line for the 3072/3147: |

OK, I made the attempt, and at first it looked like it was going to fit, but it still needs a certain amount of filing to the chassis block of the V100.
Rather than do this I will install this kit into my 3168 NS1200 and use that loco's Hamo magnet and Lokpilot decoder in the V100 instead.
It's late and I'm tired now, so I'll make a start tomorrow morning and possibly finish off both locomotives over the weekend. |
