Spitz, I think the set cost around $NZ1700 ($US1200). There are ebay dealers who break these sets up, so you may be able to buy the class 85 without having to buy the rest of it. The set is certainly a fine one, I'd be tempted myself, but I don't need a 2nd CS (and if I did I'd wait for a CST2).

Hi,
did it ever come to your mind that the CS shown in the picture is a mock-up.
A prototype just made out of wood to show what is possible or might be available in the near future.
And therefore as I said before anything in this thread here is pure speculation

Back to the topic
...
After nearly one year of "temporarily out of stock", I don't see the commercial merit of Marklin restarting production of 60212 as the secret is already out! A definately improved CS2 is already on the way!
To move the old CS, M would either have to bundle them together with new mega sets or sell them at huge discounts to their dealers - as dealers now have to take a greater risk of stocking a product that is nearly the end of its model life cycle.
This is akin to car dealers having to have to offer huge discount to move older models when the new ones began arriving - usually at around the same price of the model it replaces..
In the mean time, of course alternatives like ECoS would continue to dominate the central station market ... either way, I see this as a commercial blunder for M.
The best way for them is to go is to speed up the introduction of CS2 to beat off their competitors.
Now collecting C-Sine models.

Thomas,
Isn't that what this forum is about? We hear about new things from Marklin, we speculate about whether they will be good or not so good, and we look forward to trying them out.
Most of us are enthusiastic about our Marklin, so we want the new items to come out as quickly as possible.
Speculation is good. It keeps us going!

Hi Guus,
the layout site is my one.
The database belongs to Frank, also a member (fr) here at the forum and a very good friend of mine here in Berlin
I'm just helping a bit to fill this site with data.
At the moment I haven't got that much time for both things.
And on friday I'm going on a duty trip to a place which is in the media almost every day. Try to take lots of pictures to show afterwards.

Unfortunately Thomas, Lutz goes to full war footing when one makes a remark against Marklin, or if it is a different opinion to Lutz.
Lutz starts the war with his provocitive posts and then blames others. Just like Germany against Poland in WW2.
Unfortunately Lutz is the reason Stephen train left the Forum. as stated here:

Getting back to the topic, the CS might never again be delivered to customers, even if there is another (perhaps final) production run. This might be what was indicated to Steven and others by their dealers.
It is likely that, if a few more are produced, they might be reserved for factory replacements and/or starter sets.
...but this is just speculation.

Instead of blaming me personally beyond all rules here, you should better contact Märklin personally (like I did) if you want to get clarification what's now "correct" regarding the continued availability of the CS. Not different to what I suggested as well already to Stephen.
It would be really interesting to see the name of the dealer who gave him this information of "no more production", which is so different from the one given directly by Märklin. It would really be worth to be upset on someone who gave him such an information!
I don't see how a statement of fact can be interpreted as a personal attack, Lutz, except that you take everything personally.
However, as a gesture of goodwill, and to keep our esteemed webmaster sleeping well at night, I will refrain from commenting further on your contributions to this subject.

I find it very hard to believe that 60212 will be available in great numbers, when this item is no longer produced:
http://www.maerklin.de/d...tails.html?art_nr=610479
Thus my conspiracy theorie will be that the CS2 will have the right connectors for MS
What Märklin plans for Ugly-Box(TM)-users I don't know; a new conspiracy theorie has to be invented

Hi Nev,
sure I know the behaviour of a special member here and had my own experience in the late 90's and 2005.
But the more any answer goes against his information, the more he starts to fight for his rights.
Hi Bigdaddy,
<s>I believe you're not going to start a good friendship with Märklin for the future.
Cause this picture is a too close comparison to the Third Reich and may cost Juhan running this forum any longer.</s>
I'm not a troll, I'm German as well as other members here, but I have a problem with pics like this.
Thanks for deleting the mentioned pic
And I don't go to the cellar for a good laugh.
But if this thread here goes more and more in a direction which I can and will not understand I might be leaving this forum as well.
Please let's concentrate on our hobby and do not bring all German members here in conjunction with one special German member.
Regard from Karachi

My thoughts exactly too
Regardless of whatever that may be at the root of Marklin's problems, the fact is CS has been unavailable for far too long..
Most customers might as well consider CS out of production.
Now that it might as well be obsolete as a new replacement is coming...

Gee its all happening when I am in my beddy byes.
Thomas : I have German friends here two doors down from me and I also consider yourself to be a pal on this forum. I would like to be quite clear that Lutz is the problem and where he comes from is not. It is just unfortunate that he is in the same country as Marklin. I have just had to plod through 19 emails from the forum members including those who have left and it may well be that another group will be opened to which you would of course be very welcome as would Charles who also provides good information. As you say Thomas the problem has also appeared in the past and saying that Lutz can provide techinical information is just not an excuse for his behaviour as we have plenty of others who can provide the same without causing problems.
This problem will continue as long as Lutz is a member here which is exactly what has happend in previous forums. It is of course up to Lutz himself as I have always said the door to my cave is open to all who enjoy fun and model rail and treat it in a light hearted manner.
David
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.

Hi Stephan,
with CSII on the rise - can we suppose the old one's price will go down rapidly, then ?
Like they had to do with the very last CU6021 STARTER SET #29857 a few years back.
€299.-

Like they had to do with the very last CU6021 STARTER SET #29857 a few years back.
299.-
[^]
That probably won't happen until M actually annouces the CSII.
BTW, I think I just bought the 2 blue cars in John's picture........so that's where they came from.
Bought them to go with the 3 cars in my 29845 set.

Well John, Now we're talking!
I wouldn't mind the old CS if it came in a deal like that.

Hi Ray
,
I don't wanna be a dealer with lots of this old controller in stock ...
But in a bargain set it would be a nice one for our Grandkids. One only has to wait a bit
CSI, track and cars for the rugrats - and the engine(s) for me [^]
Cos of M's misleading statements [xx(] nobody guessed this thing would be deleted that fast !!!
So let's wait how long CSII will stay. Oughta be the same as with cell phones today ...

You're absolutely right! We all love Märklin and still we argue.
This thread reminds me of an Astérix-book I read to my son this other night. It's called "Asterix och Tvedräkten" (swedish title), or in its original language (french) "La Zizanie". One of the main characters in that story is called "Semper Batallius" (swedish) or "Detritus" (french)...
There really are som striking resemblances!

you surely missed that Märklin "upgraded" this part number to now being product number 60124; this was even discussed in the forum here.
Probably the best way to make sure customers (and their dealers) know what to order in addition when they want to connect their MS's to those many CS's that are still to come.
You are right, I missed the post; but found it now.
About being "Probably the best way" I don't know; I can't find it anywhere on Märklins webside.
More than doubbleing the price can only be best for Märklin
Per.

I'm happily surprised to see that Asterix is known in Sweden, USA, NZ.
As shown above, it's really the mirror of the life!

Asterix was my favourite reading material for years. I have books 1 to 22, then I gave up after one of the authors died, I think it was Uderzo? It just wasn't the same.
Is it also funny in French?

Thomas,
In my remark re Germans I was referring to only one member. No other.
I hope that other members can see this.

Oh yes, I read all the Asterix books in the Pinehaven library when i was a smaller child. A very enjoyable way to spend rainy days during school holidays!

I'm sorry Lutz; I just don't get it [:I]
I have found the same page you now show; but where shall I "gewünschte Stückzahl eintragen"
I can't find either availability status or price
Using the 60124 number I get " Teil unbekannt oder nicht mehr lieferbar" or
"Leider konnte zu Ihre Suchanfrage kein Produkt gefunden werden"
Note: I don't need this item, I just can't find the information you say I should be able to find [:I]
Is this information for insiders only

Hello
Strange, the shop that last week had so many CS1 on stock, took these out from his homepage and is already taking orders for the CS2:
www.stucki.spielwaren.ch
why, if the CS1 should not be discontinued?
