The first online dealers and ebay.de sellers are listing the 37359 Re 4/4II. The model is a green Re 4/4II in the 1980s livery (green) with round headlights.
This is pretty much the same model as the 26534 (11332), 34/37341 (11294) and the Re 4/4II from the 37320 set (11319) except that this model has sound and mfx+ features.
I decided to pass on this model because I am not interested in the new features and I already have all of the other green Re 4/4II models from the same period.
I would have been more interested if Maerklin would have released a 1970s model with the original silver roof or a model of a Re 4/4III (11351-11370).

For those who love Swiss trains and have the latest CS2 and want to experiment with the cab view functions, this probably is a very interesting model.

I read one comment on one of the German forums suggesting that this model might have the same printed on Swiss crest as the 37349 TEE model instead of the moulded version that is part of all other models. I have not yet seen a photo that would confirm or refute this.

I am waiting for the 37325 and will be pleased to have a red Re 6/6 in 1980s livery from Maerklin. I don't think that I have a Hag or Roco model in red with round headlights. I did originally buy one from Roco, but it was returned due to problems with light shining through the shell.

Thanks,

The first SBB locomotives were repainted in 1983-84. The first Re 4/4II to receive the new halogen headlights, which were originally designed for the Re 4/4IV was locomotive 11178, which received them at the same time as she was repainted in red. Starting in 1984, the final production deliveries (11371-11397) were manufactured with the new headlights and only the first six locomotives were put into service in the original green livery. Starting with 11377, the locomotives were delivered to the SBB in the new red livery.
The locomotives were gradually repainted and had the headlights modified as the locomotives received their next major overhaul.
There are still a handful of Re 4/4II, Re 6/6 and Ae 6/6 in the original green livery. This number gets smaller as these locomotives are finally being repainted in the red livery or being phased out of operations (Ae 6/6). Most of those locomotives did receive the new rectangular halogen headlights during prior overhauls.
The 37359 represents a Re 4/4II in the 1980s and would be prototypical for the period 1981-1993 or so.

Locomotive 11310 has been renumbered 420 310 and has been running in the red, blue and grey Cargo livery since at least 2005. I found a photo on Bahnbilder.de from 2003 showing the loco in green but with the new headlights.

Thanks Mike,
You saved me some cash as I am "trying" to stick with models that were active in 2005. I am still getting the 37324 Re6/6 as I can't resist them.

Have you checked out the Roco Re 4/4IIs? I have at least 5 or 6 that would be suitable for 2005, including red and green with air conditioning and halogen lights, cargo (Re 421 and Re 420), red without air conditioning. There were also the earlier Re 4/4IIs with one pantograph in green and red with halogen lights and more.

From Maerklin, there were the Re 421 (37345 and 29483) and Re 4/4IIs (37344, 37356 Porrentruy).
There were also some Ae 6/6 (36361, 39361, 37360) and Re 6/6 (37322 and 37324).

I love the Roco Re 4/4IIs. Most of them are locomotives that were and are assigned to the passenger division. Over time, most (if not all) of the locomotive numbers reproduced by Maerklin have ended up with the Cargo division.

In keeping with that, most of my passenger trains have Roco loks and the freight trains have the Maerklin ones.
For consists prior to 2002, I can use more of the Maerklin locos with passenger trains too, as 37344 (11251), 37356 (11239) and others were initially assigned to passenger division before being exchanged to the Cargo division sometime after Spring 2004.

Hi Mike,
I have 5 of the Marklin Re 4/4s, both of the Cargo 421s, a green one that came with the Mega starter set c.2004, the Porrentruy and the 37256. Also have all the non Re10/10 Re6/6s, red, green and cargo. I have one Roco Re6/6 in the mint green scheme. Quality is okay but doesn't tempt me to buy more Rocos. But maybe someday.

I also like the new starter set with the Cargo Ae6/6 but would like to get it from a break up. I don't want R1 tracks or mobile station w/wall wart.

Regards
Roger

Me again,
Mike, some of the videos I see on line ( they pass the time while nordic tracking ) show both Re4/4s and Re6/6s on passenger assignments regularly. It's not all 460s

My modus operandi is if I see evidence of equipment used on the Basel side (not Zug) line to the Gotthard North Ramp in documents from 2005 -2006 I try and get it. This means I am still looking for 3 items that seem hard to get.

Rbde560 or Kolibri in NPZ
Voralpen everything - I know Hag made some but....
Bm4/4 - Rivarossi? Never seen one.

Mike, question: has Märklin produced any Re 6/6 or Re 4/4 with aircondition ?

Hi John,
I think I missed typed the item number above, should have been 37356, and yes it has the airconditioning detail. I would assume the LION version does also.

Re6/6 I can't say for sure but I thought I read that the lok drivers preferred them in the 10/10 configuartion because they had air conditioning. What that looks like on the model I can't say.

Regards,
Roger

John-the 37347 (Lion) and 37348 (red) have the modifications for air conditioning.

This ebay listing has a nice view of the air conditioning on the Re 4/4II. It is a 37348 shell on a Trix chassis.
http://www.ebay.de/itm/T...tal-sound-/271856381559?

For the record, the only Maerklin Re 4/4II models with air-conditioning are the 37347 (Re 420 Lion) and the 37348 (11229 red pre-Lion).
None of the Re 6/6 models released to date have come with this modified detail. I presume that we can expect this modification on a future version.

Roco and Hag both have models of the Re 4/4II and Re 6/6 with air conditioning panels.

I had mentioned in my initial post that there was a rumour in some of the German forums that the 37359 had the same small Swiss crest (painted) as the 37349 model, but I am happy to report that this is not the case and that the new model has the same moulded crest as all of the other Re 4/4II models as can be seen here:

Hi everyone,

I just received the new green model this week and took a photo of the crest: as Mike said, it is moulded and not printed.

UserPostedImage

More picutres are about to be updated there.

As for the recent red model with air condition, I uploaded my ebay pics again to have them visible permanently.

As Mike said, it was a Märklin shell on a Trix chassis.
