The construction work is finished. Now it is time to throw some paper against the walls and paint the stuf. Meanwhile I am taking stok of the old MRR stuf inside those boxes. Regards, Timaximus |

In the current design something is still missing. This are long drive through parking tracks for the longer trains (2m). For that I make a sketch for on an extra layer. Basically it is a U-turn and an extension of the upper station level 'Oostvoorne'. This layer has only 1 slope which is driven in 2-ways. The parking tracks are 2 sets of 3 tracks and 1 drive through track. It is still concept and I have plenty of time to make the one I want to add to the table with the accessibility in mind. step 1 - building the base table with the 3 layers; step 2 - building the Helix tracé; step 3 - building the extra level. Regards, Timaximus. |

Instead of building a layer with parking tracks we are thinking about adding a scenery layer to this MRR table concept. The lower layers get C-Tracks and the scenery layer on top get K-Tracks. The lower levels get signals only and the scenery layer get signals and catenary. 3D illustration of the extra scenery layer (show as transparent). To get this the upper station tracks from “OOSTVOORNE” will be extended to the side of the table (RED ARROW). An extra point is added after the point to the first HELIX to the ‘Air Track’ (YELLOW ARROW). The second HELIX goes up with the first HELIX 2 windings and brings the track to +1350 mm above the floor (BLACK ARROWS). After this the tracks goes from C-Track to K-Track. 3D illustration of the second HELIX to the scenery layer. The new track plans shows the new track length of the station tracks and the second HELIX around the first HELIX. The new track plan.To be continued... Regards, Timaximus |

I draw a cross section for the scenery layer of the table. It will be a simple 0 (zero) track layout with some bridges, road crossing and maybe a small train stop ('halte' in Dutch). The scenery will get a Dutch "polder" look. The scenery should be simple but attractive to look at above the rest of the table style. Regards, Timaximus |

The walls and ceiling are painted today. The final stage is painting the new and old carpentry. Meanwhile I let lay some Novilon on the floor and let place a new Luxaflex and mount a few planks along the wall on the left side of the smoke channel. Regards, Timaximus |

The (temporary) planks are mounted along the wall. In the future the white planks will be covered with an extra MDf layer to make them look better then these cheap planks with plastic foil around them. The IKEA planks are much better, but these come from the local FORMIDO market. At the moment I am counting the MRR stuff to find out what is missing for the new layout. Regards, Timaximus |

Hi Timaximus,
I was looking at your previous lay-out where you experimented with Uhlenbrock Lissy for a bit. Now as you are thinking about a new lay-out I was wondering if you plan to use the Lissy system again. And if 'yes' how? As a contact rail to state track occupation or in a programmed mode directing train traffic as a whole?
As you perhaps know I'm using Lissy myself and plan to do so in the new lay-out Im building right now. May be we can exchange ideas, as I still think its a very nice system, but also quite complicated at times to programm.
For instance I myself am in doubt if Im going to use it as an (expensive and) reliable indicator for track occupation to the intellibox/rocrail or to programme the lissydecoders such that they direct train traffic without the need for a rocrail and a computer.
Looking forward to your reply.

Hello Rinus,
At the moment we are renovating the house, so the MRR hobby is sleeping now.
I can tell you that you can use LISSY for all the actions you already mentioned.
For full control without a PC which is very expensive but awesome to do!
Or using it for a part of the control like a special activity or side track as I am planning to do this time for the air track.
The programing is not difficult but you have to make tables of functions first about the actions you want to use the LISSY modules for. So it is a lot of work but after that it works great.
After that you just put those rules inside the LISSY modules, I believe there is a nice tool these days I did not have in the past 8 years ago.
I only need to start reading the manual again since I do not read it anymore since 2007. And perhaps I need to update my LISSY modules.
Regards,
Timaximus |

It take some time, the renovation of the house, but we have a little moments now to reactivate the MRR hobby. The plans are still the same but the approach is different. For now we build a simple kids friendly layout. So the 'rebel' (3y old son) can enjoy this great hobby to. The Layout will be simple and mostly manually controlled and everything will be activated and feed via the C-Track. That saves a lot of wiring . Below an impression of the temporary layout. To be continued... Regards, Timaximus |

The layout for this temporary table. Just MDF plates 8mm on a wooden frame with adjustment feet. No difficult cutting just straight lines. The ramps will be cut with rounding’s because of the Profile Of Free Space, in Dutch PVR (Profiel van Vrije Ruimte), needed for the trains. The track layout will be a little different. Today we did the first assignment for the year 2016 and that was clean up the garage. Which was very necessary. The carpet trace is cleaned up and the first 4 of 10 table base segments are finished. We wanted to finish the temporary play table in one day but the clean-up operation of both the garage and the room took more time than expected. The light weight table segments are made with Multiplex plates instead of MDF plates. Regards, Timaximus |

Today i place some pieces of the rubber 'under carpet' to listen to the noise reduction. The carpet is 'Duralay Royale 550'. I can say the effect is awsome compared to the driving over the wooden plates. When the ICE got into the rubber section you only hear the sound of the smooth engines and the noice coming from the wheel/rail contact. Regards, Timaximus |

The final 3D impression of this temporary MRR play table. Levels (above the floor):0 - Main track at +700mm. 1 - Station and turntable at +850mm. 2 - Traverse at +900mm. 3 - The LISSY track is not engineered at the moment but will probably be placed above the table or I just place the LISSY modules inside the main track and use the two systems (LISSY and PC) to manipulate each other. 4 - The shadow station is not engineered at the moment but will be placed under or above this table. I place some poles and beams for the next level, the station layer. And we added an extra point to a small shadow station (+/- 8 tracks) near the Arc bridge. I miss some parking space, and changing train sets often is not always without risk. And we just build the way we did in the past, planning a lot but also building in the wild without planning. So it is going the good way again. Regards, Timaximus |

The table part for the station layer is finished. The next thing will be creating the 3 ramps. The traverse and turn table section will be the final chapter of the table construction above. The shadow station under will be another chapter. Regards, Timaximus |

Indeed, one of the reasons to reduce running noice are the sounds of the loco's.
I can't wait to place the rubber under carpet under the tracks.

You can see the open structure of the table we use this time. We placed the transfer table and rotate is a little. Now it lays in line with the table part beneath. The station tracks are also a bit different then planned with SCARM. I fit the maximum length possible on the table part. Now a track for the ICE is present with a length of 220 cm. Now the track design in SCARM is equal to the 'in field modifications' i made last weekend. I also find out the number of feedback contacts in the main track and the station. Each track get 5 feedback contacts, only to short tracks get 3 contacts. All power consumption indicators. I count in track pairs, so 10 means 5 in each track. The short shunt tracks are protected with mass detection. Regards, Timaximus |

I added the table section for the turn table. After fitting the outbound tracks of the turn table area i can cut the rest of the surrounding plates. After that we get a smooth round table section in the walking area without sharp corners. Regards, Timaximus |

So great to see the development Tim!
Always great to have kids around to share the joy and ...the patience. Hobbits are always good at getting things left in tight corners under the layout too.
Enjoy! - Mark

I just lay down the tracks for all the 3 ramps. Also the short bridged shunt track is ready to build in. The bridges and supports are also laying on the table. So we can start again with sawing, cutting to mount the final pieces of the temporary MRR play table. I also change the 2 bridges left from the arc bridge in the back to real bridge parts, so the ramp parts lay in the front now.Regards, Timaximus |

I just build the ramp to the station. But unfortunately i couldn't finish it because the market 'Formido' close at 8pm. And i wish to drive to the station level tonight. Shit happens, but tomorrow a new day to finish this part. I am very pleased by the way about the bridge corner of the layout. It has something. Regards, Timaximus |

After the planned renovating activities we did some MRR work. So we finish the ramp at the north side and did some work at the south side, and now one of the two ramps to the station layer is finished also. I only need to place a horizontal plate between the ramp and the station layer. But the needed materials were not present. Regards, Timaximus |
