Hello,

I would like to ask you for your experience with ageing of the C-track and with breaking of the small plastic connection points.

I did decide for Trix C-track and placed an order in my local shop. They had some items on stock, some they have to order. I did pick the stuff they had on stock yesterday. When came home, just for interest I checked the manufacturing date. Most of the stuff is manufactured in 2005! I know Trix is not sold so well as other brands, but I did not expect they would have track on stock for 10 years. I did hear about problems of C-track, that the small connection points did break. I heared the problem was solved in 2004 and I cannot find any information on internet about breaking C-track manufactured after 2004.

What is your experience? Do you see tendency of C-track manufactured after 2004 to be more fragile with time and to break?
Would you return such old rail to shop and buy somewhere else or would you just let it be?

From my side I can say nothing is breaking just now, all is working fine, but what in few years?

Thank you for your advice,

Ivo

I think you're alright if the track is 2005 or later.

As with all plastics you still have to be careful not to expose it to very bright sunlight for long periods, as it will then become more brittle even if it is recently produced.

Hi Ivo,

Welcome to the forum.

AFAIK the problem is with older C-tracks, produced before 2005.

Cheers

Hi!

Tracks marked ASA should have plastic made from the new formula - nothing should break off when used properly.

Thank you all for replies.

I did check all tracks and findout the issue is related primerily to the track set 62900, all from 2005.

But I cannot find the sign for manufacturing date on R4 and R5 curved tracks and some short tracks (uncoupler, 064, 071). Any idea where to find it on these? Can it be when no manufacturing date mentioned, it is even older track? Newest track I got is 2012. Maybe the ones without date are newer than 2012?

By the way, all I have has CE ASA.

Any idea?

Thank you, Ivo
