Hi everyone, I'm trying to box up my classic SJ wooden train set, Marklin numbers 2670, 4270 and 4271. I"m having a bit of difficulty determining what belongs in what box. The main question is I have the rare 4271 postal car with yellow marking, however I can't remember whether it came in the 2670 set, or in its own 4271 box. From reading the Kolls, it seems that the digital set never came with this car, but the analogue one did. This would confirm the car belongs in the 4271 box, but can anyone confirm this? Help is appreciated, I've got to part with the set and last thing I need is future caretakers getting the wrong box or car Thanks in advance! |

John, the 4271 has the yellow marking. Road Number SJ 3877.
The yellow marking in the set would be the very rare Sweden only 2870.1 Road number for the wagen is 3233. |

Dave, This may be hard to quantify, but how rare is "rare"? I ended up with two of the cars #3233 with the yellow postal marking. One came in set 2870 and the other was in box 4170. Someone obviously made the very mistake John is trying to prevent. |
Matt Era 3 DB lokos, coaches and freight cars from across Europe But I do have the obligatory (six) SBB Krocs ECoS 50200, all FX and MFX decoders replaced with ESU V4s, operated in DCC-RailCom+ with ABC brake control. With the exception of the passenger wagens with Marklin current conducting couplers, all close couplers have been replaced with Roco 40397. |

Ian- love the collection!!! I have hung on to these until the bitter end, but I need to keep downsizing as storage reality sets in. (FD allots one standard size closet, in which all trains must fit when packed up...)
Matt- from what I've seen on ebay, the 4271 with the mark vs that without is about a $75-100 difference in price! When packaged in the whole 2870 set I don't know though. |

Try telling that to eBay sellers, who think locos like 3000 and 3003 are rare and command high prices ...
