According to a post on Stummi's Forum (based on feedback from Märklin) they didn't draw the winners yet. So just wait and see.

If you want something a bit cheaper than that locomotive, Modellbahn West have a 4415 type wagon suitably liveried and lettered. Not quite sure if I like the word WELTMEISTER on the side. Literal translation WORLD MASTER though i assume they just mean champions.

Meister can be translated as Master or Foreman or Champion, depending on the context.

So Weltmeister translates literally as World Champions (Master or Foreman apply to different contexts).

Thank you for that, Tom Perhaps a case of a non-German speaker seeing overtones of meaning in a word that are not really there. A bit perhaps like FUHRER, which can have quite humble meanings, e.g. lokfuhrer.

the draw is done
and the result is:
Too bad!- no luck this time!
We're very sorry, but we have to decline your reservation application for the model class 185.2 electric locomotive being produced in limited numbers in honor of the World Cup winners.
The enormous demand for this locomotive took us completely by surprise and we decided to draw lots to decide who should receive the locomotive. Unfortunately, you weren't among the lucky ones this time.
Any member have luck???

I lost too......:-(

Hi Adrian,
Now that the draw is done, I wonder how many they are going to produce.
Not 333 surely.
Did Marklin advertise to say that the number is "strictly" limited.
Or are Marklin free to create as many as they know they can sell.

My
guess
is that Marklin are giving priority to German buyers, hence why none on this forum have been successful but plenty on Stummis have!

If they sell more than 333 locos (they advertised that limitation in their e-mails sent July 18 and July 23) they will make the 333+ winners unhappy.
So it's better for their reputation if they don't sell more than 333.
They should make a few more for warranty reasons.
The locos are supposed to come with a numbered certificate. They better don't use numbers greater than 333 or duplicates.
If some of those "winners" do not pay within a fortnight, the locos will be offered to other persons. Probably won't be many, but a few will reconsider their order or maybe return the loco after delivery. Some may be on holiday now ...

Tom

How many of the club members are in Germany? My
guess
would be 80 % through 90 %.
I do not think they manipulated the draw in any way, favouring any group of members. I would consider that unfair without prior notice.

Hi all,
I bet Märklin will issue another locomotive, maybe less expensive and without gold plated pantographs and couplers, in a different livery for all the potential buyers not winning at the draw...
I am an optimistic Märklin fan ?
Cheers

More to the point would be how many Club members who bothered to enter the draw are based in Germany - probably 98%.

Oh yeah, that loco was the compensation for not getting the 39700? ICE the very first production loco with the C-Sine motor, that you were expected to send back a test report about.

A user on Stummi's Forum got his loco and posted pictures. So now it depends on the payments and the parcel services when they will be delivered.

As it stands we know that there was 333 offered! No lucky ones here, so it seems?
The requirements were simple; be a Marklin insider member; submit you name into a lottery; have a chance in winning! Win or loose!
Now someone uploaded a picture on another forum......
From what I know there are 21 winners in North America! Only TWENTY ONE!
The plot thickens as the time goes by!

But people did not win the loco, they won the right to buy such a collector item (or should I say speculation object) at an exclusive price.
I won the right to keep my money - same for several other forum members.

One was already sold for €499.
Nice "Zertifikat Zertifikat" with a nice badge "Märklin - product quality since 1859". The bigger the quality problems are, the more they talk about quality ...

Hmmm, buy it now at 999
And it is a 'business dealer', presumably someones shop, who had a customer who won it and decided speculation was good ...
35 people watching it, maybe I should add to that ...

Another one on ebay starting price at 333 euro.
>Ebay 36621<
This one has crept up to 402eu !
I didn't like it enough as a model, to even bother entering the draw, altho I didn't fancy my chances to be realistic
I would have if the model had better technology
I did order the 39080 VT.08 Railcar as an Insider model, it has C Sine propulsion and is a favourite
I also obtained the 39370 BR101 Fussball Lok on ebay several years ago for $US200 IIRC and it is also a fav, and has the large C Sine motor, the only BR101 model with it, but it's just another member of my IC Lok fleet and has done lots of running on the modules. I may consider buying another one if it was well priced
just in case

Just to let everyone know I received a very large parcel from Marklin today!
The results of playing the Märklin Fourth World Cup Title Soccer Locomotive lottery!
All my life I have been buying lottery tickets and now nearing fifty-five I had nothing to show for that chance to win!!
Until now!
Here's my story! Watching the 2014 World Cup was fantastic and having Germany win was great too even though I was hoping Holland would win. Then like most of us Marklin insiders, one day I get an email from Marklin informing me that if I would like my name to be included into a lottery to purchase a Märklin Fourth World Cup Title Soccer Locomotive please submit your name and the draw for the lucky 333 will take place later next month!
So I did and as time goes by.....
......What's this another email from Marklin?
Congratulations!
You are one of twenty one Marklin insider members in North America to be selected by lottery to purchase the Märklin Fourth World Cup Title Soccer Locomotive!
So I did, and today I can say gambling on a lottery whichever lottery it is, only works if you keep on playing! You'll never know when you time will come!

I know where there is one available. Some notes:
It is not mine.
I am not "on commission" and
It is not cheap.
pm or e-mail if interested.
Jeremy.
