I finally have time to set up a little track and get my little train rolling. I've had it for about 15 years now and it's been stored away, waiting for me to do something with it. But it seems to have frozen up some. It runs a little bit then jerks and doesn't get very far. 2 or 3 inches maybe. I'm hoping all it needs is a little oil. Will watch oil work? And where do I put the oil? It's the Prussian loco. Thanks for any help.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum first of all !
I do not have Z-Scale models, so I am not able to help you.
Generally the instructions booklet gives all the indications needed on where put the oil drops.
The only recommendation I can give you is to put only a drop of oil at every spot where oiling is needed and particularly on the motor shaft.

Hello and welcome to this forum. It's quite likely that your problem is due to lack of oil, but it's also possible that the oil used by Marklin when the loco was made has hardened. If that's the case you probably need to clean the mechanism and apply new oil. As Renato says above, only apply a very small drop at each indicated location. If you go to this website you should be able to download an instruction leaflet: http://z-world.com/instructions/I'm not sure about watch oil. If it were me, I'd go to your local hobby shop and get some high quality model train oil. Not too viscous though. I use Fleischmann oil on my locos and it seems to do the job. |

Wow! That was fast! Thank-you both, and I checked out the link and downloaded a pdf file, but it's in German, I think. I'll have to get it translated. The pictures seem to be all I really need, though. Thanks again! Yvonne

Thank-you, it was a lot of help. Very good descriptive instructions.
But, you know what? I think I handled my little loco (or someone else did) the wrong way and may have squeezed it a bit. That, too, could be part of my problem. (Geez, I feel like I'm talking about a Hamster or something!) Thanks again! Yvonne
