Hi Guys!
new to the group so a big hello from down under!!
im just starting out got an old starter set the old man left me and looking and getting into digital and possibly running it from the laptop, ordered the "Controlling Locomotives, Trains, and Accessories - Electrical Manual" and a couple of C expansion sets, but does anyone have any links to give me a better idea on how it all works before my book arrives or if there is something better i can read??
looking forward to drawing off everyone on heres wealth of knowledge and keeping you all updated as my layout comes along,

Hello and welcome to the forum. The first thing you should do is to learn how to post photos so you can show us what you have. They say that a picture says a thousand words, but the truth is that we all want to see your trains anyway!  Is your starter set C track? Is it digital or analogue? The more you can tell us the more we can help you. Meanwhile be re-assured that whatever you need to know you will find the answers to here on this forum. |

well i have a K track starter pack which is digital but all the new stuff i ordered is C track (i know they are not compatible) ill try and attach a picture of the one i have on this post. this forum is more on the difficult side for searching for things, but im excited to learn qwerty attached the following image(s):

Welcome to the forum. Trial and error is a good place to start :) But there is a huge reservoir of knowledge here when you get stuck.
By the way, you can connect C track to K track with a special adapter track (item number 24922)

Welcome to the forum qwerty from the azerty world! Pretty starter set, you have everything you need to get started!! These sets had pretty good instruction booklets to start with...so if they are still present you have a good starting point there. Otherwise we'll be able to scan one for you and get you in teh starting blocks. As far as extensions are concerned, a few more coaches and one or two locos will do the trick...initially!  Next is to add switches ("points" in Oxford's English), but with a MS1 like yours, you'll have to perform manual switching or separately wire the switch motors like in the old days of analog running. Welcome!
I am very new to the forum as well but just last night I was flipping dip switches on a new-to-me locomotive and with the help of another forum member setting up my digital turnouts on my CSII.
No big deal to any of the members here but 6 months ago I would have been clueless about what I just wrote! Thanks to this forum my little ones enjoy the models with me and think there is nothing I can't fix!!!

Welcome to the best "M" forum. There are a few others on the web but this is the most active. Plenty of advice available ,so just ask any question that comes to mind. As already mentioned you have a very long time member who is extremely knowledgeable & can work wonders with Marklin problems living in WA . Nice to see another Ozzy on here , we are slowly growing to be a large force on this forum .
