Hi all,

Are the panels of the waggons in the Swedish wooden train sets (2670,20702/28703) made of real wood or just regular plastic/metal material?

Hi Juha,

As I recall the panels are made of real wood. I know some members have one or more of these models, so there must be someone out here who knows for sure.

I have a set, so I can verify that they are made of real wood. The window frames are plastic though.

Many thanks Mikael,

It makes this set even more tempting for me.

Hello jte,

I own one 28703. I can confirm that the walls of the coaches are of real wood (teak, I think). The coaches have other lovely details such as the wrough-iron rails and come with interior ligthing. The locomotive is not quite as finely detailed though as the coaches.

Hi All,

Definitely wood sides, would like wlike to add to my collection
the set with the same coaches and wood detailed e-loc.

Not sure set number though. If anyone knows this # and could pass it
on I would be grateful. Believe there is also a snow covered one??

Peace from the islands,

Jeremy.

Hi Jeremy,

The set with the matching, wooden bodied, loco and coaches is:

2870 - (Analogue or Delta)
2670 - (Digital)

The loco on its own is:

3170 - Analogue
3670 - Digital
3171 - Analogue with snow

I saw 3171 and another one without snow, but I do not know which version, for Euro 159,00 each ... Is this the correct price (used in box, but well kept) ???

Regards,

Hans

Hi all,

This may be a bit off-topic, but let me write a few words regarding real-wooden coaches...

I've always been tempted by those cute SJ coaches since I saw them in a very old brochure, but I don't seem to buy them because they don't cope with my layout region and era. The reason is that here in Spain there are some similar coaches, some of them now restored and in service at the "Tren de la Fresa" ("Strawberry Train"), a touristic train which rides every weekend during spring and summer between Madrid-Atocha and Aranjuez.

By the way, Electrotren makes these coaches since several years ago, but they're all plastic and too unrealistic for my taste:

Perhaps they may co-operate with Märklin in a future and release a new version of these coaches with real wood, they will be a great complement for this year's new Mikado 141 locomotive, which is also very very tempting for me... guess why biggrin :

Hi Hans,

Thanks for the info, it is most appreciated.

I have the 28703 and will keep it, but the set with the wooden
e-loc is really enticing.

I was lucky enough to also find the add on coach.

All the best and good luck in the World Cup.

Peace and love from the islands.

Jeremy.

Jeremy,

Many regards,

Hans
