Afternoon all,

I've been looking on and off for a few months now even trying ebay.uk (European union) but I can't find one that isn't one of those useless "multi" ones (US/UK/AUS/EU......etc). I personally can't stand them, there mostly dodgy and due to the "multi" design are not the most secure for mains power.

I'm going to end up with at least 5 Marklin PSU's so instead of trying to find 4 or 5 more of the "single EU to AU" adaptors (it was a right pain to find that) I would rather get a 6 or 8 EU socket board and just use 1 high quality EU to AU adaptor. I don't really want to mangle the mains plugs if I can avoid it.

In fact a EU power board would enable me to just "chop" the plug and replace it with a AU plug or even a IEC plug as I will end up running them through a spare 750W IBM UPS. That will enable me to regulate the mains to 230V as our Aussie mains power is more likely to run in the high 240 range. (I've regularly seen 256V at my place)

Any chance of one of the kind lads in the UK or Europe sending me a link to 1 that I can buy ? Just a boring old 6 or 8 outlet EU power board.

Assume I found the right mob, in UK as well as Aus....... couldn't find any power boards and only a 3 way EU plug.... plenty of adaptors though, guess I'll have to keep looking.

Am I possibly chasseing the wrong thing ? like a "8 (or whatever) way power board" is what there called here but should I be searching a different term in the UK/Europe ?

I did stumble across a 4 socket EU board but I can't find anything bigger, I'd really prefer a 6 or 8 socket one.

RS don't ship to Australia and they have a warehouse in Australia, but that item is not available to order. It MIGHT be possible to speak to one of the people in the Australian warehouse about a special order, but I don't like your chances...

I did see them in stores in Sweden. This forum is full of Europeans, just ask one to buy one for you and ship it down here.. They can pick one up for you when they buy their groceries.. I am sure that they will do it for a modest fee via PayPal..

I've already got 6 Marklin SMPS' and 3 or 4 of the old ones (2 have AU plugs) but I'm just wanting to use a EU power board as it is the simplest/safest solution.

It took me ages to find a straight forward single EU to AU power adaptor and I can't even remember where I got it from.

As to RS Components, like Adrian said they won't ship here and there are no listings on their Australian site for any EU power boards, just some adaptors.

Will keep looking for a little while longer otherwise might have to ask one of the lads to get one for me If I sling them the dosh for it

Here you can get sick of them, see which one ships worldwide as many Germans don't but often if you write to them they will.

I was in the same boat and ordered this unit from Amazon.ca (Canada). I have 220V Marklin power supplies with EU plugs and needed this for them (http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B000784H4K/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0). I plug this into a 110/220V mains step up transformer. Decent price/free shipping.

So I've just got 2 of them, for $20 a pop I can't complain, I did spend a few hours going thru the German eBay site last night but the best I could find with shipping to Oz was pushing $60 for a 8 way board.

I'll put a AU plug on 1 and a male IEC on the other.

I could have got 1 of the all purpose (UK,EU,US,Japan to AU) boards for bugger all locally but being a retired electrical engineer I have a great dislike for the generally shoddy construction of the multi standard products. I won't even use them for a single product, I always get dedicated adaptors, there just generally so hard to find here.

Having said that RS does have a good selection of dedicated adaptors just no power boards here in Australia.

The prices are usually inclusive of delivery.

I'm assuming you want to use these with the 32va wall mounted power supplies with euro plugs, as if the power supply has a cord, why don't you simply chop the euro plug off and fit an Aussie one??

I'd had a look thru their site but with postage was way too dear, I ended up getting 2 x 5 socket boards that I found on eBay UK for $40 the pair delivered.

As to changing the plugs on the 6 or so PS' I've got, yes I could go that way but I didn't want to do that if I could avoid it. I've got 2 I think of the wall mount bricks but I doubt I'll ever use them except for a quick carpet bahn when the grandkids visit.
