The image on the box is a 3066 from Belgium, the SNCB 204, no. 204088. Inside the box lid this is printed: 69 366 MA 0164 ni. 0164 should indicate Jan. 1964. I do not know what the rest means. the 3068 was produced 964 - 1965, according to Märklin Archiv v. 4.80. 3063 in 1965-1967, s HAMO model for AC: (HAMO-Modell für Wechselstrom - "Liebhaber-Modell") 3066 in 1964 3067 in 1964 I am looking forward for the new NSB Nohab 39671. I have already ordered one by my dealer. But. I think that the 50 years old model have done a good job. I like them s lot. So far I have 15 Nohab models.

To be honest, I prefer these old school models, where it's possible to rebuild and repair and modify after one's own ideas. For me that is a big part of the hobby. To just buy a new model, put it on the track and drive off is not that exciting.

I agree that part of the fun of the hobby is to repair and upgrade old models. I have done just this with many old models I've bought cheaply on ebay and other places. However, I also like the excitement of buying a brand new loco or wagon and running it on my tracks for the first time! My only examples so far of the Nohab and the E94 are slightly more recent models from the original tooling. The DSB MY1100 is from the 28524 set, converted with a Lokpilot V3 and Hamo magnet. She's a very sweet runner! The Br194 is the 3422 Delta version in turquoise and cream. I have not yet upgraded her.

It has long been converted with a 5 pole motor (probably in 2003) and with was at the time the best decoder around: a Zimo MX 62. Such a smooth runner, incredible puller...DCC adress: 9478! It is the same thing with first versions of 3064 and 3065 V 60 and 3069 SNCB BR 260 shunting locos. Also the same with first version of 3038 SNCF BB 9200 (turkish). I have many models which are soon 55 years old, like 3030 SJ Da, 3001 E 63, 3022 DB E 94, two 3034 DB E 41 blue, two 3037 DB E 41 green, two 3035 FS E 424, 3036 ÖBB BR 1141, and five of my 3021 DB V200... + some steam locos DA 800, 3032.1 and 3003 + the oldest HR 800 N first versionfrom 1947-1949. So this oldest will be soon 70 years old. I have two 3066 SNCB Nohabs. One is digitalised with ESU LokSound V 3.5 and other one is analog. Then one old 3067 DSB digitalised with ESU LokPilot 4, one 3068 NSB oldest version is analog. I have two other NSB Nohabs which are both still analog (3137 and 3143). I have only one original old 3066 box and then new light blue repro boxes for 3066, 3067 and 3068. If I remember correctly I should have also many 3143 boxes, one 3137 box and one 3066 or 3067 a bit newer box with that boy and trains on the colorful box from around 1970´s... My oldest version of 3022 E 94 is also digitalised with 5-pole motor and Märklin 6090x decoder. In my opinion it looks better than some of the newer versions, but there are many nice versions of this powerful engine. Regards, Janne

My first Lok was a BR 44, the second one was..a double F7 with dummy and few US wagons to make my first American Train model.... Then, on the year 1965 return to German Era III with #3022...etc....etc... ...etc.... a never ending story (Utkan says...).

Joined: 18/02/2008(UTC) Posts: 1,334		It is interesting for m-users that in 2014 are 50 years old (like me) to have a new NOHAB and a 50 year old one. With the E94, it is a litle more difficult to do the same, although an E93 may approach well. The E94 is not new tooling in 2014, I think, so the best match is really the NOHABs. I think it is more interesting to do this than buy a weathered BR50 1964.

I have look at the model - the letter on both side was painted and feathers with crown and 1106 on front and back was water decals. The lining was painting.

The loco seems to be in good condition, although the box is a bit damaged in a corner. I don't know if I will upgrade it to 5 pole DCM/mfx or keep it analog. Maybe I keep it as analog and try to use it powered by catenary. I hope later this year I can find a 3067.1 at a reasonable price too.

Joined: 18/02/2008(UTC) Posts: 1,334		The 3022.1 arrived in the box :) It is not mint, but for the price it is really in a very good condition. It runs perfect, the lights work perfect too, one pantograph shows wearing but works perfect. The other pantograph is in perfect condition and look. Painting is not bad. Only 2 negative points: one of the couplers needs repair because is a little distorted and it the loco came without instruction booklet. It was my first bought of a relatively old item, and I am happy with it. Next time I will want the instruction booklet too. It is not digital, off course, and I am impressed to see how well it runs. I almost forgot how analog locos performed :) I will not upgrade it to digital. Will take some photos in the next 3 days and will post.

Hope you like see the photos. I need to improve my photographic skills in order to take better pictures to my locos.

After seeing the photos in the forum, I thought could be better to extend the track so the ends were not seen. But I think the 24001 is a lot better . I will try to buy them this week :) I will also paint the rails in dark brown. They will not shine so much.

I write "12+1", because in real life there really only exist 12 waggons from Herningvaerket. -But I added an additional (identical) in brown from DB! ;-) -Mixed in "randomly" in the consist... The NOHAB´s are from my childhood, and have their metal-gears grinded down to almost nothing, from many years of (ab)use. But there they are; running flawlessly still! I also got a E94. Also an excellent runner and puller. Mine is an intermediate model. Probably from around the 89/90´ies. (Only slightly refined compared to the original 1964 model) -Still with 3-pole, but also with supporting electronics ("vorschaltelectronic") for the classic AC reverser-relay. -And a pair of lovely darkened single-ski pantos! It once took a plunge to the floor (around 75cm free fall). Result: No damage!

Joined: 22/01/2009(UTC) Posts: 14,879 Location: On 1965 Märklin Boulevard just around from Roco Square		a discovery not many modellers have noticed, you may have come across it in the last 50 years, all Märklin Co-Co locos have the middle axle slightly raised so they never come in contact with the track and when you look at your 50 year old model you will be able to confirm my observation. I came across it when I tried to increase the rubber tyres from 4 to 6 and noticed a very shiny and unused wheel surface. I've never owned a BR 94 or a Nohab but plenty of BR 194's and except 3 of the Swedish Nohabs (cataqlogue number 3174) but never really increased in value so I sold them all. John

The loco is in good condition and runs extremely well. This time it came with the booklet, but the box is a bit below what I want... As I opened the loco I saw that it is in great condition inside I will take and post the photos when I can, probably this week.

Joined: 18/02/2008(UTC) Posts: 1,334		50 years ago the E94 was released and it was shown in the 1964 catalog it pushed easily 60 wagons (128 axles). It was pure analog technology at the time and I guess it was impressive at the time. We saw in the new items brochure of 1994 (page 14), 30 years later from its release, 10 units of the "same" loco equiped with 6090 propulsion pulling 2108 wagons. At the same time Märklin was releasing the 3722 with the close couplers. I don't remember when it happened, but at other time a set of several E94/BR194 (100 ?) pulled a real tank wagon. I wonder to know: 1- If the these Guinness locos had close couplers or the old metal ones. 2- If the new E93 will have the same pulling capacity of the mighty E94/BR194. E93 is not E94, but I can't stop compare them as M launched the E94 in 1964 and E93 is the closest model M is launching this year. I also can't wait for the pulling power comparison of the 2014 NOHABs and the 1964 NOHABs. P.S.: (I am sorry for not posted yet the 3067 photo. It will come soon)
