I have won a number of Ebay bids for 1 gauge cars. Most of these cars were made (I guess) in the late 70's and early 80's? Without the right boxes, I don't have a convenient way of identifying the cars. Most of these cars are freight cars, for example I have 2 different Beer cars( 1 green, and 1 yellow) that came with boxcar boxes. I.E. 5860,5863.

Is there a reference simliar to Kolls' that can be used as a guide?
Duh, maybe I answered my own question. The catalog's?

Hi Gene,

pls seand me an email. In 1994 Marklin published a small booklet (in German) which contains a list of all models produced from 1969-1994. I can send you a scan.

This offer is also for everybody else interested in that leaflet.

Many, many thanks for the leaflet. This is the greatest, sure makes is easy to identify some of the older 1 ga and Maxi Marklin items.

The leaflet is a superb resource for the Marklinist.

Again thanks

Marcus, after many months and tribulations, I have come into possession of a I gauge engine that I believe is # 5720.

I have the booklet ( 1969-94) you so graciously sent me, but its in BW. On page 4 there is an engine (center image) that fits the basic description on the one I just came into ownership. It is Red, with a yellow stripe, and has a silver roof. It reminds me of the DHG 500. The previous owner put on a couple of UP decals, the cab is open without doors. The unit came without the service booklet. Runs great, but a drop of labelle 108 here and there would help.

Can you or anyone else for that matter, the Marklin number, and where I can find service information for this engine. TIA Smile

Hi Gene,

this is a 5720:

UserPostedImage

If your loco is missing the doors, it is propably the simplified version (no windows, no railings, no doors, no "25") which came with the starter set 5521, only offered 1969/1970 (sorry, I only have this lousy picture):

I sent you the spare-parts sheet by mail.

Best regards

Markus

The Schiffmann catalog is the "Kolls" for 1 gauage.

Go to: http://www.schiffmann-verlag.de/

Click "Sammler Kataloge" on left, then you'll find "Band 4 Märklin die neue 1" on the right.

Marklin HO - all eras and everything.

Thank you Markus, The lok I have is indeed a unit from the starter set 5521. My lok doesn't have the doors, or the railings, it does have a couple of "glassed in" windows. Probably added by the previous owner(s). It also has a UP decal on front ,and each side where the number in the 5720 would normally belong.

Thanks again for all your help

Gene

Thanks Troy,

A very interesting site. Looks to be a "must" for the collector, and a fine reference.

Thanks again,
