Do you have the set product number? What kind of transformer are you using? AC or DC? To me, it sounds like you are trying to run an AC (All Current) motored loco with a switching relay that needs a current pulse to switch the direction. With DC, it would run in one direction only no matter how much you switch the cables, since the motor uses 2 coils - one for each direction. The classic Märklin way is to have a voltage spike trigger a built in relay to switch between these 2 coils, and that would need a Märklin transformer. I think we need a little bit more info... |

If the set brings a Marklin transformer you will need to rotate the knob to the left past zero. This will make the locomotive switch the reversing relay and the next time you turn the throttle knob clockwise it will go in the opposite direction. |

If I remember correctly, on some of these 1 gauge locos/sets (Delta sets) , you could set the loco for AC or DC operation by switching a small circuit board of the electronics around to make it work as a DC loco... Just a vague memory, and I could be completely wrong, of course... So I think we really need the product number of the set/loco... |

Merged separate "thank you" topic with this one... Great that we could solve this one so easily, showed that my initial thoughts were on the right track... |
