Hello. I have just discovered this forum and, perhaps, someone can enlighten me. I have two questions:
1. The instructions state that it is recommended to set the value in CV 50 to deactivate the protocols that are to be used. I use DCC for this locomotive. I cannot find the value that I should write into the CV. Hilfe bitte !!
2. Station announcements, Departure announcements, and the conductor's "tickets please" announcement (f13,14,& 15) seem to have automatic features when armed. ie: If the train halts, the station announcement will be made. The motor function seems to be inhibited until the Tickets Please announcement happens (logical, really - although on modern German trains, the tickets are randomly checked while underway and woe betide a "schwarzfahrer") etc. etc. Can someone direct me to a detailed explanation of these functions and their interactions?
Thanking in advance, Daniel

Hi Daniel:

I don't know about Marlin sound functions or very much about fishing at all. Wink LOL

On a serious note, can you please provide the model number for the loco? Can you also tell us whether you are using the OEM factory decoder or whether you have installed an aftermarket decoder?

Most loks that have sound decoders have a delay programmed into them so that the startup sounds align with the movement of the loco. I cannot recall seeing any models where the loco was immobilized for the station announcement. Most likely, the delay is caused not be the announcement, but by the programmed delay for the operational sounds to kick in.

Once I have more info about the lok and the decoder, I can hopefully be of more assistance or guide you to a fellow member who can be of more assistance.

Regards

Mike C

Mike,
It seems that an afternoon being snowed-in (in the South, they panic at snow much more quickly than we did in Albany, New York), I fussed and experimented and I did figure out the protocols. This is a nice little Locomotive. The decoder came in the unit and boasts to be an mfx "universal" unit. As the engine was broken out of a set by the train shop, I don't know the model number.
