Hi to all.
Do you know which wagon set goes with the orange BR111 (Marklin 3355)?

Bit of a thread resurrection, but have a look at the "Railfaneurope" site. They have several photos of S-Bahn Br.111s with various trains.
From what I can work out they were replaced by Br.143s on S-Bahn duties after reunification, and after that were used on all manner of trains. Double deckers, Silberlinge, there are even photos of them hauling an Eilzug with the usual mix of blue/beige coaches and the odd Silberling. I have one on order which will be hauling either a 43589 coach pack, a set of 4255/6/7 or 4258/9/60, or a motley collection of coaches which make a convincing 1990s Eilzug.
I might buy some S-Bahn coaches eventually but they seem to be far more expensive than other types. I was lucky enough to stumble onto a very cheap 4185 steuerwagen last year, it looks as though obtaining 4183/4 will cost about three times as much! |

Those locos were intended to be used to pull S-Bahn trains in the Ruhr region, but were later used in other regions as well. They could be found in front of older livery DB Regional and S-Bahn coaches including Silberlinge (pilot coach with orange front), in front of the turquoise and white liveried ones of the 80s and 90s and also at the head of the current red and white ones. This is probably one of the most common consists: http://www.maerklin.de/d...etails.html?art_nr=43808Regards Mike C

Thanks for posting that, some very unexpected formations.
I'm particularly surprised by the pre-war baggage vans turning up with them, there's even a shot of a 111, a blue/white second and one of the vans in 1988 (admittedly as an exhibition, but it presumably ran between depot and station like that). If you ran that formation nobody would ever believe that it was realistic!
It seems that there are almost no limits to picking a realistic train, so just go for a formation which fits your layout. |
